What is your intention in relation to your QFF membership?

What will you do?

Unfortunately, with QF following the lead of most other airlines' programmes, this type of "amendment" will probably stay pretty much the way it's been slipped-in; that said, having been a a loyal QC member for over twenty years, and now not travelling as much, having the QC-entitled access en-route via the various agreements is one of the perks left ... but I certainly now look around and compare and a couple of hundred dollars may sway me onto a differently-painted airframe. Fickle? Yep, especially when hedonism is concerned!

I'm going to book some MASA's shortly for flying before June 30, should I feel guilty...? Dirty...? Ashamed...? :D

my point exactly... ;-)

But I know I'm not popular for booking these and taking the shortcut, hence the question, should I feel ashamed...? :-|

You should probably book a gentle one... QF will appreciate you so much more.

They didn't cancel them because there's anything wrong with using them. They cancelled them because they think we're all so desperate for status that they can make us pay more for it and we'll still want it. It remains to be seen if that's a miscalculation by QF or not.

Ill probably start taking more paid flights with other airlines. In January I flew on Royal Brunei to HK, last month I had booked flights on VA to DRW, this month I am flying VA to NAN, December I am flying QR to Europe.

So for me it's really less about the QFF membership and more about where my airline spend goes. This enhancement/downgrade/call it what you will has simply reinforced the fact that I should be looking for things like (1) cheapest J class; (2) best flight times especially departure times and (3) convenience generally. I will no longer blindly fly QF.

Do it! :D

IIRC, MASAs booked now for flights after 30th June will earn as per the new table, correct? Or am I reading that wrong?

IF they do earn; I'd be tempted to book a mASA for use next year which would see me get halfway to Plat Requal (even though I will have enough flights to requal plat without the mASA, why not do the mASA because its there! :D)

QF will get a small win courtesy of 4 P segments on AA pre 30 June.
Earn Gold - expiry Feb 16 - Lounge access in USA - Assuming I get to the USA in 2015/16 the 90 SC per flight will still enable 600 SC Gold re-qualify for OneWorld lounge access.

CX - earn MPC SL - expiry Sep 2015 - collect V class from CX use for upgrades and "status" on CX flights.

AA - Life Time Gold - Do I try for PLT until Feb 2016 or get a major head start for re-qualify CX SL...

Next reunion in the USA is 2017...

Time to get the flat sold...

Happy wandering

Fred

Stay with QF for sure

Care to elaborate?

And an update on my part, I'm staying for another year, although it's probably due to laziness rather anything else. I should be on 680 SCs by 30 June, and with another 9 months to go for my year, I might as well hang around for a little longer.

It sounds like they have stated they will stay with QF.

Same as my decision.

The grass is not always greener on the other side especially when the majority of your bookings are 'E' class. I have no idea what I will do if QF goes belly up. Stop commuting.

That's perfectly fine, and the vast majority of us have stated our reasons why we are staying or going. I guess I'm just a bit paranoid when somebody signs up and put in the first ever post stating their position without any sort of claims or reasoning behind their decision. Not saying that it's not legit, but I'm hoping to see a little bit more behind it.

I was tempted by BAEC for the 32,000TP LTP offer. Although I did a rough SC calculation and it would appear that my last year of flying, which qualified QF WP, would only net 1025TPs because for some reason I got fewer TPs on discount Y CX fares short-haul HKG-China than on QF (who would have thought?) and far fewer TPs on intra Asia MH J runs - for example, HKG-PEN netted me 240SC under the old rules, that will fall to 200SC under new rules but on BA it would only be 160TP. Not to mention the OWE threshold on BA is 1500TPs, and being HKG/MEL based getting the 4 BA flights is a bit of a challenge.

I may reconsider if I can CX to match me to MP GO, since I can get HKG issued credit cards for points spend and sign up bonus.

I saw that it was their first post as well. One thing though is that they signed up in April 2014 not this month so we cannot say they specifically signed up to post on that thread. There were also a lot of people posting their first posts in the recent Qantas announcement threads. Some new members and some very old members with their very first post.
