What is wrong with people? [Why does getting on a plane make some people so dumb?]

@muppet You are joking right? How does @coco50 being annoyed at someone for almost getting themselves run over make them an aggressive driver? Giving someone who is a dick the finger does not make you an aggressive driver.

And as for @coco50 being aggrieved, so would I be! Being in the right is little compensation when you are driving a vehicle that - through no fault of your own - injures another human being. I know, I had a situation where a teenager was showing off to his friends and tried to cross in front of me where it was wet and there was no way to avoid a collision (and no, I was NOT speeding, in fact I saw him and was already slowing down because I could see the scenario playing out). Thankfully, he was not badly injured, but I was devastated by what happened and still struggle to drive past anyone or anything that appears to be coming from my left without freaking out. So I'd be aggrieved too by someone who was too busy looking at their phone to avoid dying.

I apologise because I know this is off topic, but you seem to be genuinely aggrieved by this person as if them almost killing themselves was a personal attack on you.

What was so horrible for you? Did you have to slow down a bit to avoid killing him?

I just ask because I often wonder what makes aggressive drivers tick. Recently I saw an angry ute driver throw a full beer bottle from the drivers side at a car in front for what I can only assume was taking too long to overtake and hence slowing the ute’s progress.
I was travelling at about 40 km/h exiting a roundabout. This idiot walked straight from the kerb right into my path. If I had been a red P Plater driving at 55 k/mh + I would have killed him. As it was, I was able to brake. I'm glad I didn't damage my car. Reminds me of the time a taxi driver in Honolulu told me that the state of Hawaii was making it illegal for pedestrians to cross the road with a mobile phone in their hands.

Why does getting on a plane make some people so dumb?

Just landed at LAX. CR7 from SLC, landed on 24R then onto taxiway AA. PA from the crew saying they were going to be taxing for a few minutes to the remote terminal and we stop at the hold bar waiting to cross 24L/6R. People start to get up - seconds after being told they were ~10 minutes away from the gate.

Last week, flying LGA-MIA. After departure, the person across the aisle from me was watching something on their tablet, without earphones. Flight attendant gave them the AA domestic earphones. The pax did nothing with them. Flight attendant comes back past and tells him that he needs to use headphones. Pax then starts an augment about it, opened the earphone pack and throw them forward into the galley, and claimed that because the safety video was put over the PA, he didn't have to use earphones to watch his video.

They were dumb ( and rude) before they got on board the aircraft.

Yesterday I was centimetres away from hitting a guy (pedestrian) with his face in his phone. He looked very indignant when I tooted the horn and gave him the finger!
Considering the law requires you to give way to pedestrians at all times and in all circumstances, you'd be the one in the wrong if you did hit him. He might be stupid, but that doesn't give you the right to be rude when you're the one breaking the law.

Not illegal to be rude when someone is stupid.
I had one in Lonnie on Saturday.just walked into the traffic, not looking at a phone.got the horn,no reason to give him the finger as he just kept walking.Fortunately there was a left turning lane so i could avoid him.

I didn't say it was illegal to be rude. The driver has to give way to pedestrians AT all times. Being rude and blowing the horn because you have to obey the law as a driver is just stupid. To bring it back to topic, maybe all forms of mechanised transport make the occupants stupid.

The driver has to give way to pedestrians but it doesn't mean that pedestrians have the right of way. Big difference.

however in my case i could not have braked in time so as to not hit the idiot and he was lucky there was a way to avoid him.
There is also an obligation on the pedestrian.Jay walking is against the law and said person needs to be reminded of that.

Genuine Quest: Those that stand up as soon as they can after the plane lands, why? Can someone please explain. Maybe I am missing something.

The same goes with people that don’t use headphones. Why?

Not until seat belt sign is turned off but my husband is up like a damned jack rabbit, getting our bags down and hes usually sitting in row 1 so its not like he has to fight the masses to get out.

He just prefers to be out the door and racing..... so he can then stand by the baggage carousel and wait for our bag.

Oh, and thinking of carousels... the people that crowed right up to the belt, blocking all others. Step back 3 or 4 steps, let everyone get a chance to look and approach, remove and leave. Oh, even better when its a family so its mum, dad and 3 kids crowding baggage belt area like its a family outing.

I'm 6'5 ish. Even in Row 2 (because never ever Row 1) I like to stand up ASAP because I need to stretch!

No headphones? Like those people who walk down the street on video calls or loud speaker? I would like to slap those people over the head....!
