What is the best option to get from MEL to MNL?

We picked air Asia for KUL - MNL but you might not like that option :)

How about one of the Phillipine airlines?

airasia & philippibes airlines seems to be only options. Which one is better? I would rank safety as top priority.

There's Air Asia, Philippines Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Malaysian Airlines...or SQ via SIN.
If banned from MH and no LCC, then it's Philippines Airlines or SQ via SIN.

As a side note, J MNL-KUL-MNL flying on MH yields 160 SC.

Re: What is the best option to do MEL-MNL-KUL-SIN-MEL?

Ok I now need to go to SIN as well. It can be MEL-MNL-KUL-SIN-MEL or MEL-MNL-KUL-SIN-MEL.

Try to do multi-city on CX, QF & SQ. All returned ridiculous fairs like $8k.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Did a quick check on MH's Philippines site. for Mar 10 and return Mar 13. It's USD667 return which is like A$850. Yup! a bit stiff.

Maybe ask a travel agent? When they have promo fares, it's damn good.

MNL-SIN-MNL via KL on J is US$614!! Pretty sure you can stopover in KUL! Worth your while checking?

I just changed my plan. I now need to go from MNL to KUL for a few days and possibly Singapore for 1 day at the beginning or at the end of the trip.

I always booked my flights with QF as going via SYD is quicker than going via HKG.

I just came up with the idea that I can do MEL-MNL-KUL-MEL but the quote from QF using the multi-trip option came close to $10k.

Any suggestions?

Who was servicing the KUL-MEL leg?

Thanks.. Should have looked up thread.
Though its a J regional B738 on MH IIRC

Earn the same SC so that will do me. I may actually be able to re-qual for WP. Only 700 SC to go with 4 months left.

Correct. regional B738....but you get those lovely satays :D

On J...
MNL-KUL =80sc
KUL-SIN =40 sc

Return will yield 240 sc

Ok I finally booked my flight: SIN-MNL-KUL-SIN in J with MH. Looking forward to the 240SC. After this trip I only need to get another 470SC before the end of June. With 3 more trips to Asia, 2 to AKL and a few domestic planned I should just make it.

Trying to get SC is the reason. The excuse I gave my wife is that the alternatives are worst as I told her only Air Asia & Philippines Airlines fly those routes.

Interesting comparison Philippine Airlines and MH. I feel equally comfortable on each but did need to think about that one.

Funny that after what happened to MH in 2014, I still feel more comfortable flying them vs Philippine Airlines.

It may be different if Philippine is part of OW and MH is not.
