Can anyone assist with a list of destinations that is defined as International Short Haul?
"International Short Haul flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia" are included in the Velocity 'Upgrademe Platinum Member Offer'.
I've contacted VA but they initially couldn't tell me then told me that NZ, Pacific and South East Asia are all considered International Short Haul. I then asked to confirm that Singapore is then International Short Haul as Singapore is in South East Asia but was told that it isn't???

Moot point as there are no flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia into Singapore. They are all operated by Singapore Airlines or Silk Air.

Must admit with the current flying to Bali, I do wonder why they bother it seems to lead to red pen over the profit/loss.

$10m just in Volcano issues in the last financial year. I’m not sure if two flights would ever contribute that much profit across a number of years to justify that loss, which has occurred more than once, and will no doubt happen again.

With QF launching the same flights there must be something there to keep it going, I assume premium demand.

I doubt there is much "premium demand".

I think the demand is actually premium passengers wanting to use their frequent flyer points for the flights to holiday in Bali.

This page outlines the Short haul definition.

Platinum Upgrades can be used on Domestic, Trans Tasman and Short Haul international flights but they must be VA operated and booked in a Freedom fare (L, K, H, B, Y).

The map below (page 176 of this month Voyeur magazine) outlines all the short-haul routes (except Denpasar is missing which is also considered short haul)
