What is a Oneworld fare product?

I note L bucket is only an earning class when travelling on a "Oneworld fare product".

Is that any domestic with a QF flight number?

I have a K and L fare bucket on a return flight and am trying to work out the earn. Each one has a QF flight number. No mention of JQ at all so would I be correct in assuming these are QF flights operated by QF and therefore both L and K are earning fares?

You have missed an important word - codeshare. L is not earning on a Qantas JQ codeshare except if its a OneWorld fare on JQ in the case of L like a LONE4.

The 'L' class restriction only affects Jetstar operated Qantas marketed flights. Ordinarily, you might see these in Round the World type fare, e.g LONEx. If its Qantas metal, with a Qantas flight number no issue. As long as your in the normal range of flight numbers for Qantas flights, it should be ok.

I believe that is referring to the oneworld alliance fares (i.e. particular to the alliance rather than specific carriers), so oneworld Explorer, Global Explorer, Circle Asia, etc.

I think JQ L fares actually earn in these fare products, a very rare exception but my guess is that the marketing carrier of such sectors must still be a oneworld carrier.

Thanks for that. The fares were booked by a client and I wasn't sure (they were booked from OS) but I've just checked with a dummy booking and it looks like you are right. Thanks for that, I don't why I didn't do the dummy booking to start with! They are both definitely QF/QF and not JQ even though JQ may earn anyway.

Nothing out of the usual...BNE-CNS-BNE. It was just booked by an OS based client and the part that mentions a "Oneworld fare product" related to QF domestic, so it had me wondering what domestic fares they are referring to. I assumed (incorrectly perhaps) that it would be JQ operated flights.

A "oneworld fare product" is a ticket offered by members of the oneworld alliance such as the following:

oneworld Explorer (xONEx)
Global Explorer (xGLOBnn)

Circle Atlantic (xCIRATnn)
Circle Pacific (xCIRnn)
Circle Trip Explorer (xONEWCx)
Circle Asia & South West Pacific (xASnn)

Visit Asia
Visit Japan
Visit Japan TOHOKU
Visit Australia & New Zealand
Visit Malaysia
Visit South America
Visit Europe
Visit North America
Visit Middle East
Visit South Asian Sub-Continent

The oneworld and Global Explorer fares are round the world. The oneworld Explorer is continent based, the Global Explorer is mileage based.
The Circle fares are mileage based (the Circle Trip Explorer is continent based) and are for travel to 2-4 continents or regions. They are not round the world.
The Visit fares are for non residents of the area named in the fare. They require a oneworld flight in and out and allow flat rate discounted flights within that area.

A number of these fares allow the use of Jetstar operated flights with the QF code (eg, QF5588 MEL-SYD JQ588).
QF coded JQ flights do not normally earn anything in the L fare class. They do when booked as part of the above fares.
