You went to make a booking with lets say Qantas or Virgin using your FF points and the system says it cost you ZERO points but all you pay for is taxes?

Do they honour it or can they cancel it even if you have a booking reference number and all flight segments have been confirmed?

Just curious as my brother booked a return J leg for 0 points sydney to singapore but paid a few dollars in taxes :) havent called Qantas yet and booking was monday.

If he gets it then Id say hes a lucky b$stard! Hehe

Your thoughts are appreciated?

If the ticket has been issued can't see what they would do...

There's already a thread about this, unless the incident spread to a few people?

I'd say, the consumer would know that something was up so if Qantas didn't honour it it's not like they could say they reasonably thought it was a special deal.

A few years ago AA buggered up and sold F for Y on a QF codeshare to Australia. A load booked it and eventually their tickets weren't honoured, if I recall correctly. That's fair, they knew it was an error.

If it all works out, great, but don't expect it in the future. If it doesn't, don't complain, as you know it can't be true. That's my view.

Also, if you hear nothing but it is ticketed, don't say anything or you might lose it ;)

Someone else managed to do this with a Cathay flight this week booked through QF. They are yet to receive an e-ticket which I think is the big decider, up until you have that in your hands QF can pretty much do what they like.

There must have been a little glitch with the Qantas award booking engine.

Interesting indeed although your brother may need a backup plan if he really wants to travel.

Has anyone known Qantas not to honour website pricing issues?

It is my understanding that Qantas will stand behind anything that was autopriced, which I assume web pricing would be!

I have never had issues on that front, QF is a gem with this, I had a few $25 SYD PER flights honored.

Yep they may honour it, but I wouldn't believe it until I have an eticket number. With the amount they charge for fuel fines these days, they'd almost certainly be making more money (or losing less?) for a 0pts international award than a $25 SYD-PER flight!

Syd to Per is a little bit less than what a Syd to Sin hehe i told him he should have made me a booking too! Would have saved me some points on my ADL HKG flight but lucky my parents gave me their points as they dont seem to travel as much nowadays

Lets wait and see but we both hae scoured the terms and conditions on the qantas site and cant find anything

Lucky yes but I am sure most of us would be mildly upset if we were accidently charged double and they refused to refund the difference.

I think he said it was $600 odd for taxes/fuel etc but it was for him and his girlfriend

Tickets are worth $8.5k or 240k in points so a decent revenue loss for them if they honour it

True i wouldnt be happy either but lets see how lucky he is first :)

Booking a flight that is low cost is one thing. JQ and others often offer ca $10 domestic fares - so even a $25 SYD-PER fare might be considered possible. But booking a long haul J-class Qantas redemption fare that cost 0 points/$0 (only taxes) is another matter. Four big differences: 0 points/$0, J-class, long-haul international, redemption.

But the 0 points/$0 fare is the main reason why I suspect the ticket will not be issued.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Tried very hard to replicate the result in the QF search engine last night but no luck...:(

I wouldn't make a thread about it on a public forum, that's for sure.

Too late. There are now 2 threads on AFF and I cannot be certain but someone from Qantas may have read these threads and depends on how ambitious they are.

By the way no further posts to indicate whether an e-ticket has been received or not....

E-tickets have always been issued within minutes of confirmed payment, in my experience.
