Lunch at the National Wine Centre of Australia in Adelaide. We decided to do the Feed Me four course lunch with paired wines, which at $115 was pretty good value.

First up was the Rosemary Foccacia, House Butter and Red Wine Salt plus the Pickled Green Tomato, Stracciatella, Heirloom Tomatoes and Toasted Walnut Pistou Green Oil. These were paired with a Vigna Cantina Prosecco.

Course 2 was Thai Chicken Meatballs, Yellow Curry sauce, Fried Shallots and Toasted Sesame plus Roasted Beetroots, Almond Ajo Blanco, Lemon Myrtle Dukkha, Vincotto and Dill. These were paired with Rouleur Wines Issy's Chardonnay.

Course 3 was Masterstock Braised Pork Belly, Apple Miso Sauce, Nahm Jim, Five Spiced Candied cashews and Asian Herb Salad plus Sundried Tomato Pesto Gnocchi, Broad Beans, Asparugus, Lemon Butter and Lemon Myrtle Pangrattato. We were also given a massive side of Roast Potatoes. These were paired with a Unico Zelo Nero D'Avola Zibibbo.

The gnocchi was absolutely outstanding and my favourite dish of the day. We were supposed to have a fish dish but Mrs Scash doesn't particularly like fish so we were given this instead!

Last up was dessert of Fresh Berries, Mountain Pepper Meringue Shards, Champagne Jelly and Caramelised Balsamic plus a Spiced Almond Frangipane, Creme Fraiche Mousse, White Wine Pear Compote and Lemon Thyme. These were paired with a Chambers Rosewood Vineyards Rutherglen Muscadelle.

We got chatting to the couple at the nearby table and they were being served the Metala Guardian Fortified Shiraz so we were given a tasting of this as well. I'm not a huge fortified wine drinker but this was really nice and i think the shiraz gives it a lighter taste. We enjoyed it enough that we are going to get a bottle!

Star of Greece in Port Willunga Adelaide. The view from the restaurant. Unfortunately we weren’t at a window table.

A glass of local sparkling Rose to start. It wasn’t Pol Roger despite the glass. We did have glass of Pol Roger on the deck before our lunch sitting though, which I thought was reasonably priced at $17.

Starters of Lemongrass Beef and Kewpie Mayo, prawn toast and WA scallops.

Mains were local Szechuan pepper Squid and Kangaroo Island King George Whiting. I couldn’t decide between crumbed or grilled so they suggested one of each!
