What I ate today - the food thread

Tonight at the HIE Gloucester South we shared a Kg of chicken wings with BBQ sauce glaze and a garlic mayo dip. Washed down with our free drinks -a a a Glass of Sav blanc and a pint of Brixton IPA. Was just right for us.

Purple Rain coughtail vodka, blue curacaco and something that turns it purple - triple sec?

Potato soup


Soto Ayam - hearty and excellent

Shared two mains
Ayam* Betutu


Grilled Prawns with garlic butter sauce


Being health conscious, skipped dessert

Aud 42 well spent

*ayam = chicken

Nusa Dua- bit over the same buffet for the past 3 days, so chose a la carte at Tamarind Restaurant
2 Soft poached Farm Eggs with the lot for him
Seaview Benedict with Salmon for me

Lunch on Tuesday was at the Sofitel



Quite a nice light entree.



I had sat down after looking at the cutlery,, as I wanted chicken.

Back at the Sofitel again today, so knowing this I wanted to see the menu first.



Didn’t feel like an eye fillet. Again, chose the correct cutlery. No seat mate so I had the choice of entrees and chose the prawns:



knowing that this was the other option:



Oh my, this was lovely. Savoured the fish with my glass of red wine.

Wedding anniversary (22). How my wife puts up with me I don’t know

MrsP and my anniversay yesterday too. 35yrs! 43yrs total.

I hired a busker to entertain the guests, a Fijian bloke called Thomas. Thomas used to busk at the Quay and Manly Corso. He played all the standards, great big voice. Some gusets asked if they needed to pay him. lol

Edit: For our wedding...sorry if I created the wrong persona. I am not that romantic to do this for an anniversary. I thought about renewing my fishing license on our anniversary so that I get a reminder every year. MrsP thought that was a good idea.

Lunch at Fosh in Hamilton.

Views across the river to the city watching the RAAF rehearse for Riverfire.

Moreton Bay bug roll for my entree. Wasn’t expecting deep fried.


Squid for Miss H.



Mrs H opted for Hokkaido scallops. Small but delicious.



The squid dipped in the butter left over from the scallops was yummy.

For main I had the special: southern style barramundi.



The girls both had chowder.



We skipped dessert knowing a cake baked by Miss H was waiting for us at home, but this arrived anyway.

Followed with Beef Cheeks, Mash and Asparagus - so tender


Barramundi, Soft Polenta, cherry tomato Fondant- looked good, taste ok.


(Humpty Doo Barra on QF 45 was delicious but scrappy presentation as noted in Business Class meal thread)

Lunch today at Riverford Field Kitchen, Buckfastleigh, Devon. All plant food grown on the farm and beef from nearby farm.



Whipped curd cheese figs and onion.


Cos lettuce tomato and oregano.


Squash and cress.


Hangar steak with beetroot horseradish. The steak was very chewy.


Green beans and radish.


Roast potatoes with confit garlic.




Hazelnut Semi-Freddi.


Sticky toffee pudding with custard.


A very pleasant afternoon.
