What I ate today - the food thread

7 slices of choc mudcake after a spit roast lunch and cheese platter. Thankfully I've been told to put on weight so i don't feel too bad ha! Then Marmara turkish banquet for dinner. Delicious

Hampton Krakow. Duck burger, hand cut chips and coleslaw. I've already eaten the other half. Quite nice actually. Not sure if it's a local duck or they fly them in for the occasion.

My husband told me he was going to visit a cousin for a burger for lunch. Ended up at Steamers Bar & Grill in Wollongong and I dont know what happened to the burger.

"Alternating with" ??

The dreaded alternate drop.

Exactly - the joys that some businesses that take me to lunch still believe in the alternate drop - unfortunately was sitting next to somebody I didn't know and wasn't about to ask did they want to swap. There was not even any red wine to go with lunch - which was sad given my steak.

May I ask, how many in your party -- or is this a standard menu? I can understand the alternate drop for large functions (say 40+ guests) but for a general menu I'd be flabbergasted!

It was a reasonably sized function - about 120 covers IIRC. My previous experiences with other venues (that are in the same echelon as this up market venue) has been that they have been able to cope with single or alternate drop (for numbers up to 250) - I'll have to go back in this thread to review.

It was what it was...not an issue I'm going to concern myself with for long...

I hate alternate drop meals. I will hold my ground and get the meal I will actually eat, especially as I don't eat fish generally.

But an alternate of steak vs veggie? That's a new one!

Um. Sorry what's wrong with, instead of Pleonasm, just using "or"?

Exactly! And occupational hazard - when there are two opposing sides with only one winner then it's vs.

I also hate alternate drop. The vegetarian option does not look very appealing.

Good to be with people you know but I still to swap ask if I'm with people I do not know.
