What I ate today - the food thread

When I was in home quarantine after returning from overseas at the start of covid, they also brought me several lots of freshly caught trevalla.

The cray was in thanks for them having free run of my raspberries while I was away over Christmas.
Fair swap for lovely fresh raspberries.

Well not today, but Monday local time. In n Out, Barstow CA, after a whistle stop Vegas trip with the daughter for the NRL season opener, and a look at kiwi Shane van Gisbergen driving a nascar round an oval

Hello everyone. I cannot find a better thread but any recommendations from Sydney folk about best fish and chips to enjoy beach side. Years ago loved Bottom of the Harbor and going to Bathers Pavilion but reviews from a range of sources underwhelming to say the least
Staying Sofitel darling harbor but plan to meet friends Mosman way
Thanks in appreciation!

Doyles always had the wow factor but haven't been there for years especially on the ferry. I used to love Bathers Pavilion but again haven't been there for years

The Pub next to Doyles at Watson's Bay used to have F&C shop window which we have eaten at a few times. Buy F&C and sit in park to eat.

Doyles best years are way behind it. Used to be a regular for me through Uni and then after marriage. but by the late 70s it had got dearer, trendy and smaller servings. Not what you want for a old fashioned fish and chips experience.

Then yesterday was down at Howard Wharves, underneath the Storey Bridge. Couldn’t reach over and get the menu:

Mains: Succulent chicken breast

Dessert. Really needed something else to cut through the heavy chocolate mousse - slices of citrus would have complemented it nicely. Even some crème.

Back to the Sofitel today in a private room for another lunch seminar. Thankfully a different menu:

A bit of a small entree, but tasty:

Have always loved peas and risotto and this didn’t disappoint. Just wish I could cook a decent risotto:

Love the food photos but no need to have the soft food cough look. :) Do you think you could clean give the lens in a wash of champagne soon? :) :)
