What happens to your old amex card when you apply for a new one?

Hi guys, before i am having a life time fee free amex gold card. lately i received an offer regarding plantium edge card with reduced annual fee, which i applied.

today when i log onto my amex account, i can already see the edge card listed even i haven't received the card, however my old gold card is no where to be seen.

the edge card has all my old balance and history from the gold, does that mean my gold will be cancelled and replaced by the edge?

Yes, the Plat Edge card will replace your gold card.The application you signed would have stated this, as it would have an abridged version not requiring the full details about you.Out of interest, what is the reduced fee you've been offered?

99, like any other professional co brand amex edge card.

damn, i thought i can still keep the gold card, since it is fee free for life.
