What happens if you don't make Platinum again?

hi, i earned 2090 SC in my period to end Jun 08 this year (earned 3140 the previous year) and therefore missed out on retaining partner gold for mrs taswegian. Anyway I sent an email to QF about 10 days before my renewal stating I would have qualified had I been in the country, missing by so little is frustrating as the mrs takes a few flights without me and she has master taswegian with her.
anyway she got 1 year qantas club membership for free which was awesome. anyway I will re qualify her in 09 for sure, so sometimes a nice letter does help.

It must depend on who you talk to. I will miss qualifying for Pt by two weeks this year, and I sent a very nice email outlining my booked and paid business class travel in early September (qualifying date 31 August) and this morning got the phone call saying no way will they consider that trip as part of the required status credits and so gold for another year for me.

As has been said here many times before, QF are much more generous when it comes to comping status renewals than they are at comping an increase in status. If you were WP already then I imagine it would be a different story.

In addition to Opusman's comments, previous poster had over 6000 SCs earned in the past two years, so would probably be a high value pax to QANTAS, and worth accomodating.

I count over 5,000 SCs, but yes, still a lot!

Ooops - my bad. I mentally added 3400 + 2900 for some reason...

Anyway, still 5500 SCs or so.

yes i earned quite a few SC the last 2 years and well on the way this year. Not sure if the SC made a difference but I did write a very polite email to their CS team. I must admit have been treated quite well over the past 12 months by QF. Received the comp QC for the mrs, also received $250 restaurant voucher to Flower Drum in MEL due to faulty AVOD on a AKL-MEL flight which was totally unexpected. Also received 2 op-ups this year so maybe lots of flying helps. I can tell you it does not help when you miss your family as much as I do. One of the pains of doing lots of business in Asia. I hope though to be LTG by June 2010 which will be nice. Good luck with your request.
