What happens after lifetime Gold is awarded?

I have a related question - if you've achieved life-time gold, how many status credits do you then need each year to reach/maintain platinum status?

Is it the whole 1400 / 1200, or is it just the difference between gold and plat?

I would assume the same as going from normal gold, to platinum IE 1400 to qualify.

so are you saying you'd need 700 to qualify WP if you've reached LTG, and 600 to retain?

Because that's what it is from normal gold to WP.

You need to get the full 1400 or 1200. No head start :)

That's my understanding too.

that's coughpy! so essentially it doesn't give you all the benefits of being gold at all - given you still have to get the full number of status credits to qualify as platinmum, not just the difference.

Well it's the same as earned Gold.

If I earn Gold this membership year with say 800sc.

In my next membership year I still have to earn 1400 to advance to Platinum.

Yes, but if you've *already* earned gold this year, then you only need 700 SCs to advance to Platinum.

Yep.

Same would apply.

Lifetime status just provides a safety net of benefits if you fail to requalify in any year.

It doesn't actually raise the floor.

Yeah, I understand that - I just think it's a pretty coughpy way to organise it.

The real advantage is designed so that if you stop flying regularly, or have a quiet year or two, you still get to enjoy the benefits - even if you're now just a twice a year leisure flyer.

Two benefits for QF:

1/ You keep flying with QF as you aim for the LTG goal;

2/ Even if you turn into a twice a year leisure flyer, you still direct those flights to QF so you can use your benefits.

But of course we'd all love an easier trip to Platinum ;)

Only needing another 600 SC to get from Gold to Platinum isn't really a benefit of being gold. It is a side effect of the goal post for Gold being half way along the way to Platinum.

Lifetime gold just removes the need to requalify for gold each year.

I'm probably misreading the post, but to confirm if you are WP when you reach LTG and start a new year you do require 1200 SC's to retain WP.

Qantas should introduce lifetime platinum, that'll solve your problems.

They should also introduce lifetime platinum-one!
