What Does Everyone Do Here ??

Of course, for said bridge, you'll need a management system (read Tolls)

So, I'am willing to provide my services at a reasonable rate for a long term contract. Circa 250 years, at which point, you may buy back the contract, all & sundry. Obviously indexed for inflation. And minus incidental and establishment costs, accounting for depreciation and taxes.

If interested, my number is 1-800-takin-d-micki.

:D

I could probably whip something up to that effect...look me up at Bull Schmidt & Sons

(Incidentally, if you switch the second name and the 'Sons' around then that is the name of an actual firm in Sydney. Encountered them about 12 years ago and name has stuck with me as one of the more amusing law firm names that actually exist).

I am sure many are looking at bridges for a bridge climb business somewhere. There is one in Sydney that runs with amazing profits that we would like to own. All I could find in Sydney was the monopoly priced Sydney Airport instead. A true chance to be a fearsome troll.

In the short time I have been on AFF I have often wondered what everyone does for a job on here.

Obviously lots of travel features prominently in many people’s lives.

I am not so much interested in your company/organisation’s name, etc., but what you do.

I for example, work as compliance inspector/improvement advisor in the training area.

What do other people do, if you don’t mind me asking?? :)

Like quite a few, I'm retired also, absolutely love flying and travel, but unable now to do as much as I would like too being a pensioner doesn't help I'm afraid so it's saving all my points...I used to be a Small Business Manager, Computer Book Keeper and now a Grandma of 9 and Great Grandma of 5, hope one of them has my Genetic love of Travel...LOL... Love all the Posts and have a wonderful day.

Very interesting to see what everyone does.

I fix sick people for a living - well I attempt to!

I'm an anaesthetist. I don't travel very much for work (2 overseas trips since 2013 and 2 domestic). I find I cannot coordinate leave as well as keep family happy.
Travel overseas once per year with my family although 2016 has been quiet.

I'm a strategic urban planner with a focus on transport.

I'm also one that doesn't get to travel too often. But thanks to this site I've got a great trip coming up at the end of there year where I've managed to upgrade 7 of 9 flights to business on a combo of EY and EK. So kudos to all on here for showing me the light!

My travel had been limited as well, last trip was to YVR( Vancouver- Cranbrook, Canada ) YXC in 2015...going via LAX and then Air Canada...Cranbrook British Columbia is nestled at the foot of The Rocky Mountains and has some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever encountered, I could show and tell you of places that the normal tourists never get to see only the "Locals" know of it...like Fly Fishing & camping in a Lake in the middle of the Rockies...Have been to Canada 12 times over the years and almost feel like a local whilst shopping in the grocery ore retail store like Walmart... LOL...

I'm sure you do a wonderful job in your profession, You are the person who has control of our lives, whilst sleeping and others doing their job at the same time...

Best Wishes.

Have owned my own business for over 30 years largely in specialised commercial and industrial transport services ranging from marine (so I have no need for a bridge ;)), to emergency services, to aviation to mining and somewhere along the way must have conned a few people into believing that I actually know something of the industry I'm in as for the last 20 years or so have enjoyed more than the odd consultancy/auditing/lecturing/teaching role to a few gov'ts and international organisations. I'm also a believer that prior to dropping off the perch, it is our duty to pass on the information that we spend a lifetime absorbing so I also love training and mentoring roles. Currently I work predominently in PNG, which I do enjoy enormously as it's such a contrast to our own sanitised and orderly life here in Oz. Hopefully, the dropping off the perch I referred to is not on the cards for many, many years to come!

I am a Regional Manager covering WA/SA/NT in the water industry so plenty of interstate travel and generally average one overseas trip for work a year. The points do add up quickly as a result.

In the spirit of this great thread I will expand a tad. I have done quite few jobs in the past, ranging from fraud control for the Federal Government, to eking out a living in the mountains of Chile working small gold veins. I currently spend 22 hrs a day in the "countryside" in Colombia, teaching non-mercury techniques and environmental management to alluvial gold miners who are very busy destroying the jungle. The other 2 hrs a day left over I build up until I have enough to travel back to Australia to be with my family. But the true answer to the threads main question is that I am a wannabe writer who is attempting (very successfully) to experience as much about Life as I can for material for future writings.

RE wannabeinvestmentbanker's comment about P1's etc, I am in that group now (at the very lower end) because I work where my family cannot live, so travel is something I cannot avoid (helps I love it too!). It is a huge cost but it is a necessity. (Frequent escape from the jungle keeps me sane - sanity being a relative term?) My involvement in AFF started as I needed to learn every trick in the book to try to minimize the burden of these huge travel costs. I have absolutely no doubt that I am the poorest P1 on the QF books :)
Juddles where about in Colombia?!... I grew up in Bogota =D
It's a long commute to Australia. I have done it many times... Shame Avianca dropped the non stop BOG-LAX. It made the trip so much quicker.

In my previous life (i.e. before kids) I was an accountant in a bank.
Now I work as an Administration Manager in a lovely little Primary School. Engaging with teaching staff, parents and the part I get the most joy from the kids!
I do love my low paying job but it does give me lots of holidays to pursue my passion of travel.
And I love being part of AFF....it has surely enhanced my travelling experiences - travelling, it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a story teller.

Hey there ICUDr! Bogota? So you are a rolo? :)

My main work areas at the moment are in Sur de Bolivar and Choco, but when I need a decent shower I head back to Medellin.

Am flying MDE-BOG-LAX in a couple of months, so they still have the direct BOG-LAX flights, but they are only a few days a week I think.

My main job is Software Testing, which I do for various clients as a contractor. My supplimentary gig is as a company owner and director for Best Exhaust, a company that imports exhaust systems for primarily "high end" cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, (pretty much all cars ending in i) as well as BMW Mercedes Porsche etc, as well as alot of American cars such as the new Ford Mustang which keeps us quite busy. These are imported for Retail and wholesale. We supply alot of the aforementioned brand dealerships with aftermarket exhaust systems, as well as specialist mechanics and performance shops.
