What do you expect to hear next week at the QF results announcement?

How could they have possibly turned it around, especially considering the keystone of the plan doesn't even come into play for another 6 weeks or so?

Because they took such a hit last year.

yup......no pesky charges for self-grounding of the airline this year... that'll save them 200mil odd,

and the so-called "transformation charges" were expensed last year also (for all the new CEOs and company structures), there's another 200mil odd...

maybe it's worth buying some QAN before the announcement, could be a nice little gainer for the day...

Do note the post I was replying to was specifically talking about QFi. I seriously doubt there has been any turn around and also doubt the hit (which I presume is the shutdown) was the cause of that loss. Cutting routes and aircraft has only just started so it will be a few years before any turnaround is evident. Again talking QFi.

Haven't they got until 2016 to get this done?

Because they are measured on short term rather than long term objectives and they will need to be seen to be having an impact. Given that they took large restructuring charges hits last year this will give them some bounce for the current year. They might also take the opportunity to make sure QFi's reported profit reflects QFi's actual performance.

Figures would indicate otherwise ( monthly traffic) and the write offs were taken in the previous figures for many changes, so it should be evident in this results announcement as far as a trend goes.

I predict we will see more positive news this time round compared with last year.
I think that's why they've done lots of route cuts prior to the results, so on the results day they don't have anything negative to report!

I expect to see a dramatic turnaround in QFi and for some inexplicable reason an increase in fuel and maintenance cost at JQ.

Interesting to see the analysts consesus is predicting a bit of a turn-around for QF overall. I think that I will actually wait for the real numbers broken down different divisions i.e. QFd, QFi, JQd, JQi, QFLink, 3K, Freq, Flyer Program, Qf Freight etc etc and also comapring with the 2011-2012 numbers and taking out the "one-off" factors like the self grounding in Oct 2011 and "Transformational Costs" to see what is really going on with the whole Qantas Group.

Its still a moveable feast though because now the QFi Asia reorganization and tie up with EK is already in play with future (or lack of) bookings.

Oh god no - that would be like unscrambling an omelette :D, but if I remember correctly they do publish a list of all the divisions and their profits/losses, loads, LFs, ASKs etc etc where they usually publish them side by side with the previous comparable reporting period.

I will handball that to markis10 for now.
