What cheeses me off

Please leave the decisions of how I drive to me.

For what it's worth I have been driving for 45 years and I have never caused someone to have an accident. I had one accident when I was 18 (44 years ago) and 2 minor scuffles where I have touched someone after they took off and immediately slammed their brakes on. Last in early-90's.

So that gives me a good safety record right? I must be doing something right.
Sorry. I follow the law. You do you I guess.

With caveats depending on locale/state:
Queensland

On multi-lane roads, if the posted speed limit is 90km/h or more, or if the road has a ‘keep left unless overtaking’ sign, you must not drive in the right-hand lane unless you are:

overtaking
turning right
making a U-turn
avoiding an obstruction
driving in congested traffic
using a special purpose lane that you are allowed to be in.
Hold a seniors card and stick to the posted speed limit religiously without regard for Speedo errors or the fact your car is on larger tyres than specified*

Drivers are allowed to overtake on the left on all multi-lane roads.

*this line may have been made up!
True, and that stands for most states. WA is similar but not identical.

WCMO - Australia-wide harmonised Road Rules ... except WA!

WCMO? That one person in the cafe/restaurant who feels the need to talk so loudly that everyone in the joint can hear every last word they say. Seriously.... I can hear them over the top of the music playing in my ANC earbuds and that's with the noise cancellation switched on

They may well be hard of hearing and have no idea they are talking that loud!

Possible.... but the individual in question has no hearing aids and no Cochlear device, yet strangely has no apparent issue comprehending and participating in the table conversation when everyone else is speaking at a "normal" volume, but they feel the need to speak at about 10 times the volume. No, in this particular case I strongly suspect it's nothing more than a general lack of consideration for anyone else around them.

Fair enough. This is a theme of this thread, the road, on board planes, airline lounges, cafe's, etc. There's a stack of people who exist who really don't give a damn about others, or lack self awareness, or both. Some of them, in fact many of them even rise to the top of their chosen field..

Wcmo - me

In my years of driving I have had two road rage issues .
One - morning driving in Newtown NSW who thought he didn't have to obey the road rules . I was fine but I felt extremely concerned for his passenger whom he was constantly yelling at whilst brake checking etc me

Two - myself and another moron got annoyed in one of the tunnels in Sydney. We were both at fault for reacting to others poor driving.

Husband and I watch Dashcam Owners Australia and it is amazing to see how many drivers are oblivious to the carnage and chaos they have caused by just doing their own road rules . Of course they would be the ones who have never had a road accident
Ever watch Mr Magoo in the fifties/sixties? Completely oblivious to all the chaos he created all around him with the catchcall, "Roadhog!"

And after a quiet day awaiting my parcel, an update. It's in Perth! I'm still in Melbourne. It's now due on Tuesday.

0600 AKL to SYD today HLO and OLCI
So reserved an Uber to pick me up at 0415 which should get me past the checkin and to security and immigration check at 0440am

However the Uber arrived at 0340am - this means that I arrived too early at 0400am and have to stand around for the security grill to open for the security check which only opens at 0430am.

Given how many people were waiting before 4.30am on Wednesday, being a bit early is not the worst thing.

Ive never reserved an Uber, I just book one when Im ready to go - at those crazy early morning slots there always seems to be plenty of drivers and less demand.

But f I were to book for 4:15 Id expect it would arrive no earlier than 4:10. To arrive 35mins early is just rude and Id likely still be in the shower and not ready to go. Hope you submitted a complaint.

So whoever that may be decide that last Saturday and today Woolworths/Coles stores will be closed.

So I can/want to do my shopping today. Woolworths DFO Brisbane is open today and half of Brisbane wants to do their shopping today.

Major stores must close today to observe public holiday. Why for crying out loud? People have busy lives.

P.S. I already planned to be in the area but did not think it will be this busy.

It's a public holiday in Qld today. There are something like 12 in every state. This one happens every year at this time. Labour Day. SA has one in October.

Oddly enough, the local Drake around from us is open today. I think they open almost every day of the year, except maybe Christmas and ANZAC Day.

In fact, they open 7am - 9pm everyday (normally), including Sundays. I realise that doesn't rival Sydney and Melbourne, but relatively impressive for especially being in the suburbs.

Naturally, they pull in a large crowd on those days when they are open but WoolCo are not.

If I'm not mistaken shopping centres and major stores used to open on most public holidays including Labour Day, Exhibition Day, Queens Birthday, Australia Day etc. This is the first year I've noticed they're closed.

Your a bit slow on the uptake, there are holidays and there are special holidays
