What cheeses me off

WCMO today. I have a day room in Valetta today between early dis-embarkation of my cruise ship and a flight out this evening. I was hoping for maybe a little bit of Kip to catch up on recent missing out.

Nup. Valetta is in the middle of its fireworks festival and although today is a rest day they practice and so there’s been numerous sessions of overhead firework exploding.

And now there is this next door to me - a wedding, with full ( large) band. Loud.

The band came down an adjoining street and turned into the crowd in front of the relevant house. Not surprisingly they made no headway and just had to play on where they were.

Addendum.

2 hours later the streets for about 4 blocks around (Valetta) were seething with people; Police blocking streets. Its Sunday so maybe a larger celebration.

My Bolt driver was cheesed off big time when he picked me up - had to try 3 ways before he got to me.

Now at the airport. Cheesed off again. I have a KM Malta award ticket, in business, but it doesn't have lounge access. That's stingy!

Just looked at some trip reports for KM Malta… looks like a real treat food wise is in store! Enjoy!
I’ve travelled with them quite a bit ( hence the award ticket 😊) and they are quite good for a small airline. Tucker good, wines not so good and service is the type that hides behind the curtain.

So am I on 15 June. Do you have a sense of how early you will arrive at CDG given all the EES issues? I am trying to positive about the trip going ahead so starting the micro planning now.
I think it’s the arriving rather than departing bit? We did two or three euro arrivals and departures in Feb… it was always the coming in that had delays. Going out was just regular.

20th June for us. We are staying at CDG with flight departing at 10ish. I ran it through ChatGPT. The hotel booking is the one I made with booking.com and which got hacked so that's another story. Here's what chat said - it micromanages.
CDG Morning Plan – Malta Airlines Business (10:00 Departure, Terminal 2B)

  • Shower, dress, and gather carry-on items
  • Make sure passports, boarding passes, and flight documents are ready
06:30–07:00 – Walk to CDGVAL train
  • From hotel lobby → Roissypôle CDGVAL station (~3–5 min walk)
  • Board CDGVAL train towards Terminal 2 (~5–6 min ride)
  • Get off at Terminal 2 Station
07:10–07:25 – Walk to Terminal 2B & check-in
  • Follow signs: “Terminal 2B / Gates B”
  • Walk ~10–12 minutes inside Terminal 2
  • Check-in / bag drop (Business Class counters
07:25–09:00 – Security & Lounge

  • Pass through security / passport control (Schengen)
  • Proceed to Extime Business Lounge (2B/2D)
    • Light breakfast: pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee/tea, juice
    • Relax, charge devices, enjoy a quiet start to the day
09:00–09:50 – Board flight
  • Leave lounge → walk to your gate
  • Final boarding starts ~09:50
  • 10:00 – Flight departs
Onboard Business Class breakfast: croissants, fruit, yogurt, cheese/cold cuts, coffee/tea, juice

And you reckon you micromanage 😂

To keep this on topic - Booking.com and its reaction to the hackers and consequences.

We arrive into Paris the morning before so all the EES stuff there with a large gap. Well, that's the plan. TK so should be fine. Gulp.

Just chek check your Chat directions for things like trains and metro once you get to the station… in Prague a few weeks ago it was completely out… telling people to go in the wrong direction. :( (It was haply to accept the corrected advice, but i’m sure we weren’t the first people asking how to get from tourist attraction A to tourist attraction B!)

Yes. It can make some rather significant errors and I sometimes tell it to not try fake it 😂

Have been trying to food prep at least 4 serves of a meal that freezes well every Sunday night so there is something healthy that can be nuked quickly available for dinner if I get home late.

I did my weekly shop on Saturday but my partner was with me, sent him to grab some gow-gee wrapers from the supermarket fridge.

Yesterday arvo I prepped a current favourite dumpling lasagne using the sheets, cooked 8 portions. We both ate one.

Woke up this morning with digestive issues, was sorting the soft plastics and noted the used by date on the gow-gee packet was from 8-Apr-2025!

So WCMO today is:
1. Woolworths having stock in fridge that is more than 12 months past its used by date
2. Partner not checking date before chucking in the trolley
3. Getting food poisoning because of 1 & 2
4. The waste of now having to bin the other 6 portions in the freezer

Next time we are at Woolies going to check the other packets on shelf - clearly they arent managing stock as they should.

I'm surprised the purchase went though, when I've tried to scan out of date stock the machine has pinged it and called a staff member over.

No ping, I used the self serve check-out. But if i find other old ones next time I'm there I will be reporting to the manager as its a health risk; and basically due to poor re-stocking practices.

You can report it now, and get a refund for the product.

Why wait and have others potentially experiencing digestive issues? If it’s someone elderly they could get very sick :(

My standard practice whenever looking for information using AI is, when it provided that information, is to ask it what errors it made in its answer. Sometimes I even ask this question a second time. But I’ve found (the free version of) Claude to be better than (the free version of) ChatGPT.

Dont have time to go back to the supermarket this week, we are once a week shoppers when we rent a go-get car (for 1 hour) to transport the heavy stuff home, as we find online grocery shopping results in too many substitutes or bruised fruit/veg.

Plus today we wont leave our respective homes as need to be near the toilet due to this incident.

I will ask to see the manager next time I'm there which wont be until 2nd May.

That is on Woolworths not me; but am trying to find a email for the store since no one answers the phone it just rings out.
