There is an upside, for those who want to travel last minute, whilst the seats may well be booked out, apparently drivers do let people who turn up to take any seats that were booked for the whole journey and not occupied at time of departure.
 
news.com.au alerts - I do want a diversity of sources but lately they're intent on driving as many clicks/taps and being as sensationalist as possible, by sending out alerts that are as teasing as much as possible. Such as:
  • 'A major Australian city is making a shock change'
  • 'A world leader has just made a huge call about...'
  • 'Meghan has filmed a cameo on a very popular show...'
Often I already know what the story is about, so the city/leader/show is no longer a mystery. Yes I can and should just delete it.

So how much did the grifter get for the cameo? $250k?
 
WCMO is getting a lot of posts in Botbook about Australian culture, and the deterioration of Australian culture, which certain elements of the community lap up. But interrogate those accounts making the posts which have names like "outback news' , "Australian values" etc, and they are usually registered in the US and not from where they purpote/seem to be posting from. Presumably from bot farms.

I avoid news.com.au with a passion. I find it full of clickbait.
 
The Australian Electoral Commission. Especially the South Australian Division. They have one job to do and get four years notice to do this. Hold State Elections and count the votes. Simples.

We had an election in SA on 21 March. A few glitches, like the electoral roll not being accessible, and so on. But after the election it emerged that many people working on the day had not been paid, 3 weeks later.

We live in Barunga electorate. It's pretty much Yorke Peninsula. We were the last electorate to be declared after a recount. One Nation was declared winner after 10 days. Ok. By 68 votes. Her members were very active in the community pre election. One town went full blown orange. So, we are done right? Nope. Today a box of uncounted votes for this electorate were found. 84 unopened ballot papers. So another recount. There is now going to be an external inquiry into the Electoral Commission.

Apparently the ballot boxes are sealed with security seals.
Surely the security seals are reconciled against a list held by the commission before counting begins

Also the ballot boxes are never to be left unattended. Im not sure what that means - whether they are locked up in some place after hours
Presumably the Commission is confident the ballot box concerned is considered "secured"

Yes. All sounds very sensible doesn't it. 😂

"In a statement, ECSA acting commissioner Leah McLay said “a number of unopened absent ordinary ballot papers and declaration ballot papers” had been found in the northern electorate of Stuart.
This included 77 absent ordinary ballot papers and four declaration ballot papers for Narungga, where One Nation’s Chantelle Thomas had been declared victor ahead of Liberal Tania Stock by 58 votes. This put One Nation on four lower house seats to the Liberals’ five."

There was a recount. Now there will be another one. Preferences in this election played a huge role. In another electorate, the independent candidate who received the fourth highest number of primary votes won the seat because every other candidate preferenced them. Never happened before in Australia apparently. Blew Antony Greens mind away.
 
All the more reason to go to electronic voting where result can be tabulated in minutes not days.
