What cheeses me off

I am not sure about QLD but in the ACT, to be eligible for a Seniors Card, a person must
a) live in the ACT
b) be 60 years or older
c) not in paid employment for more than 20 hours per week.
If similar in QLD, the work stipulation might come into play for JohnK.

Same as in SA until they change it with the election promise

Driving down three lane road and LH lane has some cars park so cars that drive along in the left hand lane and then just merge into the middle lane and think you will slow down and let them in and then they go back into the left hand lane. W⚓s

Hmmm ... that could be me. If not many cars parked in LH lane, I'd consider it a legitimate lane to use, until I can't, so merge right and then move left again.

I know sometimes 'everybody' knows that that LH lane isn't through lane and peeps zoom up it, overtaking slower middle lane, but if you don't know ... 🤷‍♂️

Here in Tas, roads dept has a habit of putting 'Left lane closed' signs on a highway WAY before the actual closure, so all the good lambs here immediately merge into the RH lane, leaving the RH lane very slow and the LH lane empty for a km or two. LH lane is open for use ... what do you do?

Possibly because you have to be a permanent resident in QLD. You must have a QLD address linked to you and the address needs to be linked to Centrelink, electoral roll. Proof of rent is not accepted because you can pay rent from abroad.

A QLD DL would solve that issue.
So what if you don't drive a car but Centrelink, electoral roll, rent, daughter school all in QLD? Still have to pay $77.40 for proof of age card?

Surely proof of age is no different to passport? I remember when we were trying to get citizenship for wife they were pushing proof of age card for wife as photo ID. Why? Wife has Thai passport which is official document everywhere.

Not sure about NSW Seniors card. I'm looking for electricity discounts in QLD which was main motivator for seniors card.

I understand
It is not the proof of age per se. It is the proof of residency in QLD which the proof of age is linked to . I agree that Centerlink should be enough but that is what they want.

But would you push in front of car that was going parallel with you or wait until their was a gap - I had to swerve into the RH lane and lucky the car behind could see and stayed back. It would have been fun if we did hit because I have my new dash cam installed.

I know we can go around in circles but when I was reading what I needed to do to apply for QLD Seniors there was mention that you needed Medicare/Centrelink address as QLD. When you actually do the application there is no reference to Medicare/Centrelink.

I'll now transfer my NSW licence to QLD which comes at a cost of $84.20 to transfer keeping same expiry date so that's more expensive than proof of age card.

I don't know if this accurate

NSW Seniors Card said:
Yes, you can use your NSW Seniors Card to access electricity discounts in Queensland, as Seniors Card benefits are recognized reciprocally across Australia. However, to receive the specific Queensland Electricity Rebate ($386.34/year), you must be a Queensland resident, hold a QLD Seniors Card (or equivalent concession card), and have the account in your name.

Yes, butthe specific requirements of QLD require a QLD DL or PoA - thats how they roll over there.
It is apparently not a requirement in NSW for NSW DL which also has similar residency requirements but they are happy with other ID - passport and medicare suffice.

I think you may need to check out the various "Seniors" card differences at Eligibility There is a work limitation of not working full time to be eligible for an actual Seniors Card as well as the residency. If you are working, you can get the Seniors Business Discount Card - but that won't help for Electricty discounts - you need the full Seniors Card for that.

Wow working 35 hours a week is considered full time at some businesses in NSW!

WCMO just went to put rubbish (1 small bag) in the bin and all the yellow and red bins in the main garbage room are over flowing.

Looks like someone moved out overnight as was fine yesterday arvo and has stuffed a bunch of junk which should be left in the junk room for free council collection in random bins. Hope we caught them on the security footage, as TVs dont belong in a red bins and lamps dont belong in the yellow bins, so the owner of the lot can be fined (and they can then take from the tenants bond).

Luckily the smaller garbage room had some capacity for my bag. Reckon the council will be complaining when they come to do pick-up tomorrow, they have threatened to stop collecting before when idiots kept putting non-recyclable plastic int he yellow bins. Selfish coughs always leave consequences for everyone else.
