What cheeses me off

WCMO?

Had to take my mum to a cardiologist appointment yesterday. We took her car and I dropped her at the Metro station while I went to get a nearby parking spot, which was naturally non-existent. Called her to say that she should get on the train and head to the cardiologist whilst I relocated to a nearby station to get parking and would follow shortly behind her. All good.

Arrived at the station, found a parking spot and then suddenly realised.... I don't have the car key. Where was it? With my mum. On a train. En-route to the cardiologist. 🙄

Thankfully hadn't turned the car off at this point (as that would have caused further headaches) and I remembered that mum's car has connected services via mobile app allowing for remote engine start/stop, locking/unlocking et al. Went to open up the app, but it had been "offloaded" from my iPhone. Went to download it and log in, then realised I had 1 bar of signal which was insufficient for downloading the app.

Drove out of the parking spot and moved to a different part of the carpark where there was signal. Succeeded in downloading/installing and accessing the app. App connected successfully to the car. Great! Drove back to the original parking spot. Connection to the car lost. Damn. Drove out and found a different parking spot - phone still has signal. Parked the car in said parking spot. Phone now only has one bar and has lost connection to the vehicle .

Eventually found another parking spot and parked. Confirmed 2 bars of signal and verified that I could connect to the car and trigger a couple of the vehicle actions (e.g. open/close windows). Feeling somewhat more confident, I switched the car off, jumped out and used the app to remotely trigger the locking of all doors. Phew! 😌

And that leads me to LTIL....
And then your mother had returned and was standing there ...

WCMO: Touring Indonesian islands. Muslim. Conservative. EVERY pre-excursion briefing we are asked/told to dress conservatively - no shoulders showing, no thighs. American lady goes twice with an off-the-shoulder dress.

Third time, she is picked up in the lounge before departure and asked to change. Not happy; minor scene. Told change or staying on board. Goes and changes.

I think it’s been said before but people who are in the ED waiting room coughing up a lung with no face mask on. Waiting 8 hours with a vulnerable relative in a jam packed room every cough filled me with dread. Made a feeble gesture of lifting her arm to cover it.

An airline booking reference (PNR code) that starts with DUD. Given that it's into and out of New York mid February ...... Is the airline trying to give me a hint? 🤣 (OK not really cheesed off, more amused, but if I were a little superstitious I'd be worried about that booking ...)

I guess anyone flying into or out of Dunedin in NZ, will have that within their PNR anyway.

We need another thread for observations that aren't either #WCMO or #LTIL. Maybe IOO (interesting or amusing observation that doesn't Cheese Me Off or Isn't a Little Thing I Like).

Was that because of the new Euro rules, or not enough counters open?

I had the misfortune to fly into Frankfurt just after 2 planes from Communist China arrived. I think it took me longer than that. Pre C.... days
Yep, everyone was getting fingerprinted and photographed. Which I did as I left WAW that morning. So a double whammy for me.
