What cheeses me off

Want to get a couple of pages laminated. Would prefer small shops to Officeworks but all their websites say call us for a quote. No - just display how much it is. At least if I go to Officeworks I'll know what I'm up for

Get a call from my sister (older than me, if you know me). Just received very high power and water bills and a bit upset and didn't know what to do. So I saw her to help sort it out.

Power bill was someone-else's'. Similar name, same house number, different street, so that was sorted.

Water bill was def hers, 3 x the usual cost. Just her in a small house with small garden. Quick look showed no signs of broken pipe under ground.

She said they only recently found the meter - buried for many years. So I thought at first it was catch-up from estimated usage to actual usage. But then I noticed the 'averaged daily usage' was 3.8 tonnes and the 4-month usage was abt 340 tonnes of water!

Called the utility. Thankfully easily sorted. Turns out my sister had never been charged for usage and the 340 tonnes was total consumption to date once they finally read the meter!!

WCMO is that she may have had this on direct debit, or it may not have been so obviously wrong but high ... and it may not have been queried. Always read your bills!

I only own one thing that takes 3V lithium button battery and that is the remote for my sound bar.

Remote stopped working last week, and so on the weekend I went to buy a replacement battery.

WCMO is neither Coles nor Woolies sell individual batteries and a 2 pack costs $18 whereas a 4 pack costs $12.

I now have 3 spare useless batteries that will likely run dead long before they are ever needed, given the one in the remote was the one that came with the sound bar and I bought that over 10 years ago!
Or you will put them in a safe place and we know what happens then.

Given their dreadful consequences if kids swallow them, maybe Health should worry more about this with multiple batteries in a pack than some of the other stuff they meddle in.

Perhaps but not really an issue at my place because i don't have kids nor do any kids visit my home.

If i were to catch up with anyone who had a small child, Id be suggesting we go to a cafe/park; nothing in my home is kid friendly.
