What cheeses me off

WCMO yesterday? Really trivial stuff sometimes. Like yesterday when swimming laps in my Condo pool. This pool is 50m x 15m. No-one else in the pool. I plonk my water bottle down in the middle of the pool at one end and start my laps. Someone else comes along and they get into the pool in front of my water bottle in exactly the same position as I'm swimming. FFS we're the only 2 people in the pool and you choose right were I'm swimming, you couldn't have chosen 7m either side of me to swim your laps? 🤷‍♂️

they are probably the same people who when bush camping choose a spot 50 metres from you when they could be a 500m away.

Herd mentality. Like when you park your car well away from anyone else and you come back to find at least one person has been compelled to park in the bay immediately next to yours.

My saga with real estate continues

- they've withheld $220 from bond for additional cleaning on top of the $650 I paid for bond cleaning. I've asked for photos before and after and no photos provided. Methinks they are trying to extort $220. My wife and I are certain the place was left in good condition. Note it is a 50 year old rundown kitchen
- I was asked to leave electricity connected until final inspection completed. I have email proof. Owner did a lot of work using the electricity that I paid and no request to use my electricity or offer of compensation. Im requesting $100 compensation for use of my electricity
- handymen left place dirty and wife and I did extra cleaning. Real estate said no need for us to clean. Apparently we failed 2 inspections and real estate expected us to leave place in a mess

I really hate dealing with real estate agents. Truly awful people and that owner, my God. Spent 6 and half years in a rundown place and he replaces carpets and blinds after we are gone. We asked for a few things that were not dine or took long time to do.

I've rejected bond refund and now waiting on RTA. I think they can't do anything so off to QCAT as a last resort. If Im not mistaken QCAT will cost $95 as amount claimed is less than $1000 but if I win I can get $320. That's good odds in my books.

There are some horror stories about getting rent refunded. The last place we left was really dirty when we collected keys. I took so many photos. When the final inspection came for us I had all the pre photos lined up on the counter. Bond returned. I think QCat usually rules in favour of tenants unless there are significant issues. And it's an interesting discrimination between fair wear and tear versus damage, on a 50 year old place. If they weren't inspecting the day of your rental period expiry I'd be letting them know it was being switched off the very next day and that would be their issue to sort.

We are currently landlord and tenant. Interesting process.
