What cheeses me off

WCMO? Self-inflicted technology headaches. I enjoy trying out the latest versions of applications and operating systems. Decided to update to the latest public beta of iOS 26 and have now discovered that one of my frequently used apps doesn’t work and almost instantly crashes on startup.
You'll just have to go back to picking up in bars then, the old fashioned way.

This post partially belongs here but also partially in the LTIL thread as it has both good and bad.

WCMO: the significant rise in power prices, especially electricity prices in NSW. Like many I’m with Red Energy and earning some token QFF points (cheapest deal apparently). Early last month, or maybe in May I received the dreaded “your prices are going up” email and they were significant, so I checked around and couldn’t really find a better deal so accepted I was just going to have to deal with it. As an example the daily connection charge was going from $1.40-something to $1.90-something. 😠

Fast forward to this week (new pricing structure is active) and I’m cancelling my BankWest Plat QF card and swapping all the direct debits to my new ANZ card. Log in to Red Energy to change card details and there’s now a little note saying that I’m not on the best available plan. Hmm, interesting. When checking out the ‘cheaper plan’ I discover it’s a plan with the same name (Qantas Red Saver or something like that) and what looks suspiciously like exactly the same rates I was previously paying. 🤔 So of course I switched to the cheaper option!

Annoying: price increase.

Nice: the fact they are forced to provide this info to me, semi-proactively, when I check my power plan in my profile.

Even nicer: I switched back to the cheaper prices and it noted the switch would be back-dated to the start of the current billing period, in May. 👍

If you’re with Red, or even if not, I recommend logging in to your power plan and see if you have something similar.

I just checked my electricity rates too and my FIT is no 2c - what a joke. On the list of things to do this week is ring other providers

wcmo ?? cars with no way to check the engine oil level
SWMBO calls and says the car has just asked for a litre of oil, I say just keep driving and I will check later
I could not… and it has now changed it's mind anyway.. the message has gone
This particular car has an electronic gauge but only in house..outsiders not permitted..bloody stupid engineering….

It also appears on your bill, to the left of the amount due. I've jumped through the hoops a few times in the 4+ years I've been with them. Every bit helps!

All this money to improve flow at SYD airport and its taken us 35 minutes from Mascot Qantas and we're not even at T2 yet. Dozens of cars going down right lanes and then forcing themselves into airport traffic and we've got worst driver I have ever encountered.

Not a fun weekend.

WCMO - people who think and treat their flea bitten mutts as if they are human. You love them? Cool keep them away from those who don’t / may not.

And the last thing I ever want to do is spend a night in a hotel room the night after some stinking mutt has been in their the night before. Cannot believe the situation here in England
