Went to local early voting place today. Was minimal queue and quite quick moving
Have to say it was mainly people who appear to be elderly , infirmed or those helping infirmed
Saw a couple tradies which also made sense as they would need to vote when they are close by

We changed seats in our SQ booking last year. We nearly got someone else BtC which looked nicer than my choice but the FA was quick as a flash.

We also voted today. Straight in and out. Yesterday there appeared to be large queues later in the day. At least 20% of the electorate has already voted. Todays figure was 4 Mill. out of around 18 Mill.

I think whilst there’s always been a political/power related motivation to polarisation (“divide and conquer”) I don’t think we’ve ever seen such a strong commercial incentive (here’s looking at you X and Facebook) to drive polarisation like there is now.

Only last week I noticed a post on my Facebook feed promoting how wonderful white folk are and that I shouldn’t feel ashamed to want to live exclusively amongst my own people (algorithm got the wrong person this time, Caucasian Aussie living in the little India part of Singapore ).

But I wonder if the algorithm was listening in on my conversation about 10 hours earlier when I was at dinner with 2 Singaporean and 1 Malaysian colleague discussing race in relation to Singapore politics, and the upcoming election (which coincidentally is on the same day as our election - May 3).

2 days ago booked OOL-SYD for today to visit dad in hospital. Booked 6:00am flight and returning on last flight tonight. This was going to leave me some time to get to meeting with doctors to discuss ongoing care for dad if he eventually gets out of hospital.

Just received email that VA500 has been cancelled and I'm now on the 8:20am flight to SYD. I am now going to miss doctor's meeting and even though I was only going to be in hospital a few hours I had planned to do a few other things for mum. Now need to rush and won't have any time to relax.

Life! I hate you so much. Why busy with everything I do?

Incidentally election day about a week before the 1969 Malaysia Race Riots . If you want racism go no further than Malaysia where racial dominance is enshrined in its Constitution (Article 153). Only one race is classed "Bumiputra" ( translated to son of the land) with all its rights and privileges

I try to make him the most comfortable so I dont have to listen to any of his whining... like if he got a leg cramp from the side angle seat that SQ tortures us with. I don't know why they went with these stupid side angle seats but yesterday I got a leg cramp in both legs at the same time from it. Which reminds me of the worst leg cramp I've ever had (SIN-AMS) which was in the same seat

Thrilled to say for SIN - MAN we both got the extra bulkhead space/no stupid side angle seats so very happy

Not having much luck this year with flight delays and cancellations which is a surprise? We had a 2h 35m transit in SIN on Saturday and this turned into pretty much nothing at all.

Flight departs BKK ~2h late then lands even later at T2, Skytrain to T3 and long walk to B7 and just made it to boarding before gate closed. Not sure they would have waited. May have been better to get on next flight ~3 hours if space for 3 of us as we were very tired.

Wife/daughter, different surname, departed together from CNX on international flight to SIN late January, without me (I flew domestic to BKK) and nothing was said.

Wife/daughter, different surname, departed together from BKK with me standing next to them on international flight to SIN and Wife asked for daughter's birth certificate. Again. No fail being asked for birth certificate ex-BKK every time.

FFS sake. Daughter has Australian passport, Thai passport, Thai ID card same surname as her dad standing next to her and still they ask for birth certificate. You cannot forge this many documents plus you can see multiple entry/exit stamps in Thai passport. This time they also checked my passport but she is 8 years old and this is starting to get beyond a joke.

Was advised to carry birth certificate until daughter is 18 years old or even 20 years old and if daughter is travelling out of Thailand with only 1 parent need to have permission from other parent.

Does this make sense to anyone? Why the contrast between BKK immigration and CNX immigration. This is harassment but nothing we can do. And yes I do see a totally irrelevant point that we may be kidnapping my daughter but multiple Thailand entry/exit stamps and Australian passport with identical details is a dead give-away that we are not kidnapping anyone.
