What cheeses me off

WCMO? Qantas sending notifications for a flight change for a flight to be taken in June, and asking you to accept changes, so hoping it won't impact international connections and so require a phone call, so you immediately log into Qantas account, only to find the change is that the first flight leaves a total of FIVE minutes later. Like they are suggesting that Qantas flights are never late anyway and in reality five minutes is nothing.

And now they've just sent a reissued ticket. 😂

WCMO are hotel buffets - particularly at breakfast. I want my food fresh and hot, not warmed up (or not) and sitting forlornly on a warming tray for hours. I went down this morning to a hotel I will not name that only offers a breakfast buffet. As it was trying to cater for multiple nationalities, it all looked rather sad even though I was there less than an hour after the buffet opened. I'm especially wary of cold eggs, especially scrambled, as you can almost see the bacteria multiplying in front of your eyes. Not to mention the waste - assuming they throw all the not consumed food away each morning.

Fortunately, they had some fresh bread, fruit, cheese and salad items. I guess that will do for a couple of days.

Mind you, a few hotels, (I'm looking at you, the Shangri La in SIN), that have the most amazing breakfast buffet. You could stay there for a week and never have the same dish twice. But these hotels are few and far between, in my experience.
I agree
This is my personal view
I loathe buffet .. anything.. rare to have quality produce, usually if hot (overcooked) or not (beyond bad).
Those disgusting cylinders of cereal or open bowls having been decanted and refilled God knows how many times and rarely fresh or good.
Coffee is usually disgusting - I would rather pay if they can use /have a proper machine.
If I must I will get a pot of sealed yoghurt and maybe some bread.
Its only because I get free breakfast with much of my status that I bother - about half the time an a la carte offer is available
YMMV

I also got an email from Qantas yesterday about two June flight changes, and also immediately dreaded some major disruption. But the timing had changed to 15 mins earlier outbound and 20 mins later in bound, and they just assumed Id be ok and re-issued the ticket, no need for me to accept although it did say I could call if it didn't suit.

And just had another one for son and family award flight for Fiji. By about 10 minutes. Must be a change and update day today.

How did you guess? Good guess. Plus we are flying on to Portugal from DPS for cheaper fares.

I guess it's horses for courses.

Four Winds revolving restaurant on the Gold Coast (I think now called Horizon Sky dining) is one of the best buffets I've visited. Food is fresh as the sittings are only 120 minutes or 90 minutes.

The Harvest buffet at the Star Gold Coast is also quite good.

The Hyatt one in Perth was pretty good too, thanks for introducing us to it @cove.

We go in June as well, but so far no changes to our flights 🤞 we are going via SYD to be on the A330.
You will love Portugal @Pushka - just make sure you don't mis-step at Lisbon airport !

Well @Flashback so many things change. We were members of Club at the Hyatt in Perth from 1994. That all stopped so Mrscove really enjoys Epicurean at Crown Towers at Burswood in Perth.

Well I spoke too soon @Pushka !
I just got the email.
Our MEL-SYD leg has been changed by 30 minutes - bugger we were on A330, now 737, oh well as long as they don't do that for the DPS-SYD leg home 🙄

The YouTube algorithm. It’s 2024, what should I expect.

It started pushing a lot of anti-Trump short videos at me. So I started disliking them. Now it’s pushing all these pro-Trump videos at me 🤷‍♂️

Will dislike them and see what happens next.

It’s annoying but WCMO is really the impact all of this cough can have on voting.

WCMO is that everything is labelled as AI generated these days. Yeah, AI has been around for ever and those that were previously just using it based on their algorithms they built are now harping on about how they're so AI focused blah blah blah. Yawn.

You might be surprised at the AI restrictions that are placed on book contracts these days. Everyone is running around so bothered by AI now.

WCMO is spending $900 to have a pump replaced in the outside spa and the installer guys says that the other main pump is about to go fritz as well, and they can't be replaced, so I'll have to buy an 'aftermarket' replacement at about $1,500. A third pump, for the bubbles looks OK.

Replaced one is the circulation/heater; the about-to-go one is the water jets. So it looks in time I'll just have a bubbly warm bath.

Phew, a break from those photos of your toes sticking out the spa enjoy a glass of fizz ;)

QEEQ sends me an email to write a review about them on Trustpilot and they will send me a 5% discount on my next booking. I'm not renewing Diamond membership which provides around 10% discount as its too expensive for the planned car hire and doesn't offer any other useful benefits.

So I do the review on Trustpilot and QEEQ send me a 5% discount with minimum spend of USD300. Seriously? My next car hire is 8 nights with a cost of AUD385.

Apparently the discount only lasts 5 days and I've not booked anything yet. They've sent me another email if I want a 5% discount on my next booking with exactly the same conditions of minimum USD300 spend that is not mentioned in email.

Why do some companies think it's ok to deceive? Can I ask Trustpilot to take down review?

Good idea, or add another one noting they used misleading tactics to get a review
