WCMO: “All our customer service agents are busy as we’re receiving higher than usual call volumes…”

BS. No you’re not, you just don’t care about leaving people on hold. Or you’re incompetent and unable to manage your information flows.

Longer queues and waitimes as a result of not scheduling enough staff does not equal higher call volumes!!!

I've been saying this for a long time. CEO salaries and bonuses have been ridiculous for a long time.

Customer service should be the only metric used for KPIs and customer service has been in decline but people still flock to use these companies with poor services.

And no, online chat is not the answer as the agent can have up to 5 chats at once. How you can focus on service is beyond me.

I really like online chats and usually have success with them. I had to call Qantas Insurance today and even though a local accent, my gosh, even she knew she wasn't making any sense and said she needed a coffee. I half wondered if she was having a stroke 😳

Remember some employers have significant problems recruiting staff, because even call centre staff are abused " why did I have to wait so long, you are such an idiot xx_X.is a waste of space and never get things right "
Funny how people don't want those kinds of jobs

People that learned absolutely nothing from the pandemic and walk into the office sick as a dog and tells people that they are sick and then have surprised pikachu face when I have them sent home.

Oh, but not before they unload the dishwasher and make coffee so their germy, grubby hands have been all over mugs and spoons ect.

This person is the same person I had sent home two days in a row when he came in with the flu and told people he had the flu.

Presenteeism is stupid.

Well, WCMO is people who continue to take the spacing to an absurd level in shops leaving around a 2 metre gap whoch then creates a queue into walkway areas so others have to jam up to get around the queue.

Currently in Salzburg - outside temperature 5 degrees. Hotel room set at 23 and can't get it any lower. Had it on 18 for 3 hours and hasn't budged. - receptionist is surprised I want to be cooler than that - FFS - I wonder why there is an energy crisis

At least you have ventilation. Many properties, including chain ones, do not offer or switch off the ability to have any sort of ventilation (heating or cooling) during some seasons. And they don't have windows that you can open.

I don't know about you but I dislike the air becoming stale more than it being too hot or cold.

Today's WCMO draws on a post that I recently put in the chit chat thread and inspired by this video:

I just don't get it - some of the behaviours they are discussing, you wouldn't even do it in your country! Why in another one?

I hate how people think there's an aura of invincibility to them because in many cases they will not actively get in trouble or the worst that will happen is they will be deported and perhaps banned. Not one iota of regret or remorse; not one ounce of consideration or empathy. Especially influencers who think that a nation can't afford to turn its back on tourism so can't afford not to be stringent or inflexible. And to those who act up in regimes where they actually do get subjected to rather harsh punishment, making a big diplomatic song and dance about lack of rights and freedoms and how unfair it is compared to home etc.

I understand this kind of thing happens all over the world. And let's not start with the nationals-based stereotyping - I don't want this to be the time and place to yak on about that: it'll just be soul destroying.

Seriously... pulling a geisha's hair.... why would you..........

This window only opens about a centimetre, but at least I got some fresh air. The temperature, even after I’ve turned the whole Aircon system off is still 22°. I’ll be going downstairs telling them I need another room with the Aircon actually will get down below 20

good luck. I doubt it’s possible. It’s probably not ac, just heating. Europeans and English don’t like cold rooms.

And Canadians. Same issue. Summer means fan only, no cooling aircon. Even in winter - I once walked into a tower apartment when it was -30 outside. Place was like a sauna; the lowest the thermostat would go down to was 22 deg from memory. And even if you turned it off, the entire tower block was a thermal-radiating block of concrete. I opened the balcony door and some windows and I could feel the frigid air pouring in. But unless I left it open (and risked freezing some inside pipes), I had to close them before I went to bed.

Ok I drafted the following a couple of days but didn’t get around to posting ….

Getting sick of overheated rooms. Travelling in southern France right now and every single room - except the two nights we had at an Airbnb, the rooms have been crazy hot.

The first thing we do is strip out the doona and remake the bed with just the cover. Even then and with slightly open window still woke up in a sweat.

The Airbnb in Lyon was great though. Thin doona, cool room. Maybe being on ground floor helped.

I'm going to try though because I'm going to be out all day. The other thing - no top sheet just a very thick doona which is at least encased in a cover and not two sheets
