I listened to interviews from the major recipients and weirdly even had some, well, not exactly sympathy, but a tad of understanding of Margaret Courts position. I had a grumble at all the politicians getting a gong. Now I am in the process of cleaning out the apartment for a rental inspection 😂. But I did buy some lamb chops and sausages for a BBQ tonight. No family around so just the two of us. Not that we have even done much with Australia Day once they removed the cricket from Adelaide Oval a few years ago. 😫

Now sitting in a Spirit of Australia lounge...

As it turns out, case 2 is about a travel (cruise) refund dispute! (who knew?).

All dealt with slightly quicker than what we usually see on AFF ... ;)

That's it for my daytime TV viewing for another year or so ...

I finished work at 2am and now back at work at 2pm. We all brought in australia day food though.

BBQ lamb lunch, then beach, now spa, then leftovers.

Flag Australia GIF

Unpacked / packed away camping gear, fixed 2 water troughs, lamb chops on the Weber for dinner

A drive to Leven canyon, icecreams and platypus viewing followed by dinner in Latrobe and an afternoon drive alongside the Mersey river.

Slept in to 9am, didnt get to sleep until after 1am. Started the BBQ and prepped this barra that was too big for my Weber (had to bend the tail to make it fit). Lunch was bbq fish and salad.

Cleaned up, answered a few emails, hubby had a nap and then started prepping for dinner of garlic prawns skewers on the barbie and cold prawns and salad. Yesterday was bbq lobster mornay and scallops and salad - I dont want any seafood for at least a month.

Watered the garden and collected another basket of tomatoes.

Now Im working, doing prep work and journals for end of month.

Re painted the ceiling vents in MissM’s room to blend with the ceiling and walls that have been worked on over the past few days/weeks to get rid of the calcimine. The joys of old homes.

Ah calcimine. We had similar in our Tudor. Our painter hated us.

Pretty quiet Invasion Day plodding along with a project in the workshop, but a lovely traditional Corned beef dinner that was super yummy.
Downside was fifty saucepans to wash, but stuff happens….

The Family Scarlett rather foolishly walked up Kosciusko today...

BOM forecast was for showers mostly in the afternoon and evening with a temp forecast of 13 max. We arrived at the Thredbo lift before morning start scheduled for 0830, but for whatever reason they were running 30 minutes late. So we'd dressed with shorts and rain jackets.

Reality was a little more interesting.

The walk up was 'hat blowing off' wind speed. We entered cloud about 250m from the summit at 11:00 and the rain (stinging as it hit skin sideways) began shortly thereafter. Master Scarlett was a bit of a wreck for the journey back to Thredbo top station as it was serious gusts and soaking rain all way down.

BOM data records show it hit about 11 deg C (feels like -0.8 😰) with wind at 65kmh (gusts to 85) at Thredbo Top Station, so likely colder and windier as we were on the summit.

Everyone pretty worn out this evening but the steak at Banjo Pattersons (Jindabyne) really hit the spot.

Note for posterity: if venturing into the high alpine region (even Australia's relatively minor one and even in the middle of summer) take ski jackets!
