What am I doing wrong?

I am looking at flights MEL-LHR departing 9th September returning 19th September in discount Y. Selected flexible dates. Screen shows these dates as having outwards at $950.00 and return at $1122.00 a total of $2071.00.

I select those dates and can select flights at $950.00 however I can NOT see any flights at $1122.00. Lowest is $1197.00.

Logged out and checked from another browser and same thing, even changed computers and logged in as Mrs Ansett and again same thing no such price visible? Checked dates either side and again could not find the lowest price offered on the first page.

Is this misleading advertising perhaps even bait and switch OR am I completely dumb?

My understanding is that $950 flight is still available but it could be selected at the same time as another user or Qantas phone bookings, it will not be removed until the booking is completed, but if the other person does not book it it instantly comes back up. I had this issue the other day as I selected a flight and phone support could not get that fare, then she grabbed it I could is not see it anymore , I was surprised at how quick the system is.
So the fare may come back but might not too

Doesn't your third picture show you have got the $1122 return flight? I have seen flights disappear once the first flight is selected, but they are greyed out in those cases.

Hi Medhead the third picture shows the combined total of the outward and return journey all on the same page. The issue arises when you click next to select the actual flights and the $1122.00 is no where to be found.

I think this has come up before. I recall it is an issue with how QF sort and display results, some results (especially non QF options) are pushed down, or even off, the list due to the default sort order.

A while ago (2 years almost) I had a circumstance where sale fares for the return leg changed price based on what outgoing leg I chose.

Seems you are spot on as $1122.00 has gone and replaced with the $1197.00 fare that I could only see and select before.

So no conspiracy theory here just the internal workings and timing of the system

OOOPS should have been 19th lol and have done that trip in Y many a time just for the weekend arrive Saturday fly back Sunday evening

You get used to and always used to get good seats as a P1 and WP but alas as a lowly WP and enhancements that is to be no more

I thought that was the price display at the bottom of the page after selecting flights. My mistake.
