Flight from PER QF598 great flying to get it down today, strong gusts, apparently 4 go arounds this afternoon

Some clients mentioned about a JQ flight SYD/OOL earlier today was extremely turbulent about 20 mins after departing SYD worsening as approaching OOL, with aircraft being buffered by strong winds, apparently better than any theme park ride

Went round three times going to Hobart on 24th of December. Good fun except for the poor people being sick...

I'm guessing it was worse today. Last night a QF flight went around, advised it was 40 knots until 500 feet reducing to 20 knots over the fence. Made it quite difficult to judge turning them onto final...

Anyone looked at QF634 MEL-BNE, looks as if it found BNE too hard so flew into SYD

I have had several wild rides.. on decent in the Philippine ports on a variety of DC9's some years ago averting seasonal typhoons.. so every turbulent experience since pales in comparison.
I try to avert my faith to the airline, the airplane & best abilities of the Captain on duty at all times.. :?::rolleyes::shock:

Few more than 4 go around this afternoon! Was very rough and the wind still hasn't died down. Still strong wind shear just after midnight.

Just to clarify, I was told by the pilot there was 4 go arounds yesterday before we landed, not we went around four times. Thanks for the route there serfty, was a long afternoon with no site of ground for most part mainly in the clouds.

Brings back memories of an A330 coming into HKG a couple of years ago, literally just after a Typhoon passed. The turbulence was significant, but the view of the clouds was worth the price of the ticket alone! I've never seen anything like it before or since, they looked like they went up forever, with such a myriad of shades of grey to black! The some what amusing part of the captain telling the passengers that we are just on the edge of the typhoon, so conditions aren't too bad, yet behind me, the sounds convinced me it was bad enough! I'd hate being in a cleaning crew after a flight like that.

Flew BNE - DRW on JQ081 yesterday, we were pretty much the only JQ aircraft that took off on time - QF824 only took off 10 minutes before us (delayed over 4 hrs)

Our flight was only 2/3rds full.

Very rough take off, probably the worse i've had in BNE.

Landing in Darwin was damn near perfect - didn't feel a thing!

The last few days has been bad and would not want to fly in BNE MCY or OOL.

Apparently the 767 operating the BNE/DRW flight was delayed due to the inbound flight attempting to land in BNE 3 times unsuccessfully & with OOL not an option the a/c had no choice but to return to SYD to refuel then come back up to operate the BNE/DRW sector.
