Just a quick question.

How long did it take to receive the letter to pick up the card from the branch?

I am still waiting for mine!

I got a letter to collect my cards from the branch, All I had to produce was a Drivers Licence, proof of income was faxed to them during the application process.

When I collected my cards, I did notice that they had been received by the branch approximately one week before I was advised to collect them.

Cruiser, are you a current Westpac customer? If so, that would probably explain it.
Yes - still hold Westpac Singapore Airlines Plat Amex / Visa which had high usage during the 3:1 opening promo - I retain that still for SQ purchases so YES that might explain it.

When I applied it was granted automatically - initially I applied for Gold by mistake and called them about some matter and they offered me the Plat on the phone - am always chasing SQ points so I took it up.

I had the Krisflyer Gold earlier this year but since got rid of it. I thought they may have made the link... oh well. I was approved straight away but not for the limit I asked for.

Bonus Points with Qantas1 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every $1 you spend on selected Qantas products and services[SUP]2[/SUP]

&

2. Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) booked directly with Qantas, Qantas Club and Qantas Frequent Flyer memberships, and purchases from Qantas Travel - excludes Jetstar flights and services. You do not earn bonus point on Qantas Freight, Qantas Business Travel, Jetset Travelworld channels and Qantas Staff Travel.

Can anyone confirm they have received bonus point per dollar spent on Qantas flights with this card...? i.e Book flights using the Amex card, and get 2 points per dollar...?

Also, on top of the questions above, can someone also tell me if Westpac allow putting accounts in credit prior to an "over the credit limit" purchase (I have about $10k of travel to put on this card, hoping to pick up an extra 10k QFF bonus on top of the standard $1:1 as asked above. Problem is that my available limit on this card is not high enough for booking the flights. Will Westpac allow me to put this card into credit by a few grand...?)

Yes Cruiser Elite is correct about putting Westpac credit cards into credit and still earning points.
The only Westpac card that has any real merit is their Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Amex as it earn 1.5 points per dollar for SQ Kris.
Every other Westpac card is beaten or matched by others so Westpac is asleep in the drivers seat.

That may be correct, but I only got this card for sign on bonus, and its the only card I have in my wallet at the moment which will earn 2 QFF per dollar for qantas purchase... Unless I am missing something.

May as well get 2 points per dollar than one... :p

OK the best card for paying Qantas costs is Amex Ultimate for 2.5 points per dollar and no points capping.
There is a pretty generous points start bonus to take care of the first year fee and a free return flight which of course works better from Perth as there is nothing in the way of cities that are close.
There is a thread on American Express Ultimate that is pretty current.
Amex has many cards so you need to read up on which one SUITS YOU rather than me.

Agree, but I'm going to burn this card after 3 months once the bonus points post, my qualify spend for the bonus will be with Qantas.

$75 annual fee = 16,000 QFF
$10,000 Spend on Flights at Qantas = 20,000 points

So for a cheap card, I'm going to burn anyway soon, I'm 10,000 points better off using this card than using my QEDRCC or ANZFFCC. Sure I'm 5,000 points short of the Amex Ultimate, but as a sole trader I'm on the Amex / Citi black list... so this is the best I can do at the moment...

Edit: I now see my ANZ card also has bonus points for Qantas.... I must be thick not seeing this before... Plus I'm a bit slow on the points from credit card... I have still a lot to learn, but that's what I am here for I guess

Ouch to the BLACKLIST!
That was where I felt I was in America trying to get an American Express and Nordstrom card issued.
Citi and American Express can welcome you if you include last years tax assessment to prove your income and they probably will want to call your accountant.

Just got back from overseas. Picking up the card with bonus points will be very handy.

Thanks to all for the info on the card and link.

Quick question, but has anyone actually received their sign on points into their account yet?

I've received my expenditure points but not the sign on points into my QFF account

then again I haven't paid for it yet.

Didn't T & C's state bonus pts will post 3mths after first spend?

Not sure - so many new cards - it gets kinda confusing.

They 16k bonus points don't come in until 3 months after your first purchase. Here's the T&C part:

* The 16,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer applies only once per new Earth account. You must make an eligible purchase on either of your new Earth cards by 20 January 2012 to receive the 16,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points. Bonus points will usually be credited to your account 3 months from your first spend. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offers.

I didn't realise it was a 2QFF per $

Only for Qantas spending, though.

Looks like this card is only a 1:1 on Qantas purchases, should be bonus points on Qantas purchases but no bonus on a small test booking I made recently. Spend points posted but no bonus...

This card really becomes less attractive due to this, and I'm going to kill this card off once the sign-up points post

This issue of non payment of Qantas bonuses not being posted is discussed in depth here http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/westpac-earth/westpac-not-awarding-earth-qantas-33969.html

Picked up my card on Friday. My proof of income was out by about $10 as to what I put in the application and caused some hassele. 25min later I was done!

Even got asked why I hadn't come and collected it earlier... I asked when will banks start opening with a bit more flexible hours?? Who works 9-5 these days!?!
