Hi guys
Looking for a bit of info or help. I am trying to get myself to Calgary over Christmas ideally getting there no later than the 23rd. Originally booked a QFF seat as far as SFO (Mel-SYd-SFO) but connections from there are over $600 for the times I land and require an overnight stay via Seattle or Vancouver to get me where I need.(land at 3:15pm need at least 3 hrs just in case then can only get a 7:30 flight air Canada via Vancouver, layover overnight, 7am flight next day to Calgary)
I’m thinking of ditching this flight altogether and using those points for some other flights we need on our trip and booking my leg MEL to Calgary direct. By the time I book the connection above and a hotel it’s not far off and the points I’ll get back will book some other legs for us.
Now I’ve been keeping an eye out over the last week or so. United is flagged at $1700 one way via La or SFO which is fine but today I noticed via Google flight search and webjet that Westjet is showing a flight for $1300. Mel to Lax on QF then an overnight in La which is fine followed by a westjet flight next day.
What’s the catch? If I search the same leg on Qantas is $2300
How can westjet sell a Qf seat cheaper than the actual airline? It says baggage is extra but I assume that’s just the LA to Calgary end which is standard. I am thinking I really want to book this but just don’t know enough about this airline and why is it coming up so much cheaper. Will i not get fed? Haha
I am a Qantas bronze customer (hubby is a gold and leaving a few days before me with the kids so I can send most luggage with them)
Thoughts? Should I book? Don’t imagine it’s going to get cheaper for Christmas?
