Agree not worth the effort with low Amex earn rates and Dragon being quite close currently. Looks like a fee grab halving the max load.

I’m sure by special ordering the $995 cards you’ll get the third degree in case you’re money laundering.

Yeah not worth it anymore. Only thinking whats best to pay Deft Strata fees - both Visa and Amex have fees. But each payment has $2.75 at AP.

been like this for about 6-7 months if I recall,

I wrote as feedback as to my displeasure and their reply was "we have reduced the limit based on customers feedback"

I replied "so customers were complaining that the $995 limit was too high? if you are going to lie, make it believeable"

Why are any customers who want lower load levels just loading less. Don’t have to load $995 just because you can.

It’s like Citi in the Prestige thread saying that customers had requested a reduction in benefits.

Wtf.. you could still buy the $500 even when the $995 was available

its just greed and stupidity that they think they can blame/attribute the customer for making negative changes and make it sound like they are doing a favour

if I recall when amex devalue came along, they used to say that they listened to customer feedback and made the changes,

they must have got sick of getting abused

I think delivering bad news is universally hard. So much so we feel we need to provide a ‘feel good‘ explanation for it to try to soften the blow. It will always be uncomfortable delivering bad news to people.

The reality is these businesses aren’t charities and so don’t need to lie about price hikes. They can decide on what terms to provide their service just like we as customers can decide whether to buy their service.

Don’t need to be dishonest about it for instance by blaming customers.

I still buy them as I find 2.5 (=1.25 SQ, CX etc) Amex points worth the 0.6c premium over my Visa/MC alternative of 1 Velocity point per $. YMMV
Also useful where there is a credit card surcharge that is waived for Eftpos-its my preferred way of paying for my car servicing
