I thought WSI was to have lower costs for airlines?
Comparing cost of JQ tickets to BNE from WSI and SYD well in advance (I compared May), on the same day they're often the same, $78.
So the JQ charge is more for WSI than SYD.

Guess it might depend. Once people start buying up all the SYD tickets, there may be cheaper WSI ones left (or maybe, only WSI ones left).

Then again, was it really to have cheaper costs / fares at WSI? I thought it was to take some of the traffic from SYD (or augment the overall capacity of the Sydney greater area, period), plus to give some options for those in Western Sydney, rather than having to make the massive hike to Mascot all the time.

For airlines the costs may be cheaper, hence more profit at WSI, even if they charge passengers the same (or more, for that matter). I wonder how that point works for cargo operations, which was also slated to be a major source of traffic for WSI?

Your comparing airfares, not airport costs, one is fixed regardless of demand the other is not.

Airlines don’t normally pass on cheaper airport costs, or incentives. The only time I’ve seen anything passed on was post pandemic when governments handed over cash for airlines to bring the price down to stimulate travel.

I think anyone should be entitled to refunds on taxes/charges if they don’t travel rather than n going to the bottom line.

Airlines will have other costs.
Landing fees, gate fees (sometimes cheaper if you don't use an aerobridge), check-in desk fees, office fees, possibly aircraft parking fees/ hr..
Which also add up and are paid by the airline.

And don't forget the increase in profit when they DON'T pass on the savings from lower airport fees.

I drove since you need to be there from 8 a.m. for registration, and yes, parking is available (and free)

I also drove up from the Southern Highlands. Google Maps had me take the Narellan Road exit and the Badgery’s Creek Road. If that is going to be the access for southerners once the airport is open then it will be a nightmare. It’s an old road, single lane and there is so much construction happening in that area. Coming from the north, it would seem you would use the M12.

I’d be interested in your take on your trial experiences and what you thought of the airport in general.

Free parking for the trials in P2.

Looking at Google maps live that route from the Southern Highlands is shorter but about the same time as heading up to the M7 (small toll) then M12.

How was the evacuation exercise @Bazzi ?

Any sign of what shops/ food outlets might be open on opening, or lounge operators etc.

Seemingly only 5 trial days left, all booked out.
