Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Looks like it will also serve as a commuter bus from all the train stations but not many passengers will get off at WSI for the time being considering the infrequent flights this year.

I think they will also use the buses which have a large dedicated luggage space - have seen them around the area.
WSI will go into operations pretty soon (for freight) so I imagine workers will still need to get to the airport if they choose not to drive. Even as we gear up to launch (with the limited flights) still lots of people need to get on-site to WSI to get it fully operational.

Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport

WSI Airport will be open to passengers and the public from October 2026. However, commencing from Sunday 5 July many of these new services will provide the opportunity for staff and workers across Western Sydney to commute to and from the Airport. Should you wish to interchange for any other services, you can do so at the WSI Airport bus interchange.

Looks like they’re loaded in the Trip Planner. You would need to change the date via the address bar but it can be seen now.

Some interesting information useful for possible passengers:
  • 772 bus: 45-50 minutes to Mount Druitt (!)
  • 790 bus: 35-40 minutes to Penrith
  • 825 bus: 40-50 minutes to Liverpool station, 20-25 minutes to Bonnyrigg T-way (connects to the T-way bus)
  • 845 bus: About an hour to Campbelltown station, 25-30 minutes to Oran Park
  • 860 bus: 28-30 minutes to Leppington station, a lot slower to Liverpool though
Seems surprisingly competitive given the initial announcements, but also makes the travel time seem alright compared to SYD for western and some southwest suburbs’ residents.

I don't see the 772 lasting given it competes with the initially free St.Marys shuttle, and later metro.

Also a bit surprised that they don't have a route to Schofield's/ Tallawong to measure demand for any metro extension.

It’ll probably be rejigged to connect to a metro station once that opens, similar to what has happened to the buses once the various Metro stages opened. Before then it’s to avoid backtracking for some suburbs I think.
