Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

LOL WSI Doesnt even have a Qantas Pub
Qantas haven't even committed anything to WSI. I'd say flights appear first and then someone starts to think about setting up some sort of lounge.

I wonder where in the terminal has been appropriately set aside for any company or airline to set up a lounge.

At this point no-one knows.. information on what pubs may or may not be present (or what access) have been very quiet, including for those airlines (or SQ) already selling tickets.

My understanding is that there will be a lounge, but most likely not a specific airline/alliance lounge, but likely to be a Strata or Plaza Premium type of Paid entry lounge.

CX already havre spare slots at SYD and elsewhere if there was a real profit to be made right now in using them they would. But no they have cut capacity from most aus airports they dont need more flights right noew.

Thread of 69 pages and people are still not getting that WSI isn't for 2026 - its for 2030 and beyond.

Again some here arguing a different point to what i replied to.

expensive airport with aerobridges and facilities

Expensive - well yes Government projects usually are not best value for money, devlopers see the gov coming.

But aerobridges are to expected at an international airport, likewise security standards are mandated nationally so nothing specical WSI is not going to be more se ure than MEL or SYD or PER, and "facilities" vague - what makes them so great?

I read this as toilets again to be expected because WSI doesnt even gave a qPub planned its actually less faci.ities than other international airports (hell even domestic ones).

Actually it doesnt have any relevance to 2026, your guessing about growth decades away. Irrelevent to the points we were talking about re need/no need for more HKG capacity at WSI in 2026 and facilities for flights this year.

But you do you and change the subject.

Talking about what might be there in 30 years in irrelevent wrt if its worth flying out of there in 2026. Some of the biggest fans of WSI on this thread unlikely to be flying in 30 years.

😊

your guessing about growth decades away.

Happy that you are engaging on this point.

Sydney Airport is just about at capacity. How much growth do you think there’s going to be in demand for air travel in the next couple of decades?

So even with small annual growth, what are people going to do in 10 or 20 years for the required extra flights? They’ll either have to fly out of Canberra or Newcastle, and they’ll be saying “gee, why didn’t they build a new airport 20 or 30 years ago and look ahead?” 😎
