I just wish I could work out when I cancelled the card last year so I can reapply. No payments since June but have a feeling I left it a couple of months before closing - schoolboy error I know

Called wanting to cancel, getting ready for the July-18 new CC report. Was offered an 18 month BT @ 0% so took it up, and instead cancelled my Virgin Money.

If you call them up, they'll tell you when you did and therefore eligible to reapply and also receiving the points.

Call and ask for the date. I did.

Ha. I called to cancel my card this morning, and cancellation done, no questions asked, no offers made. Fortunately, I really did want to cancel my card!

Thanks, rang up today and now know I have to wait until after 31 July. Made my final payment is mid June, should have closed it at that time as keen to reapply. After booking 2 separate 280K trips for Mrs Nick and myself in the next 9 months are keen to get some of those 1.1 million points back

Do they track when the card was actually closed before awarding bonus points again? I read that they don`t. has anyone had any experience with receiving/not receiving bonud points?

Phoned today and was offered a 50% fee reduction which I declined. A balance transfer was also offered, however I pay all accounts in full every month so I also declined. Card was canceled. Now looking for another one.

At what rate was the BT offered?

As I understand it, those digital passes are also getting flogged on eBay. Not sure on how the mechanics of it works however but I'm sure it is easy enough.
You can pass the digital invitation to anyone who is a QFF member - all you need is their Surname and QFF number.
Expiry date remains the same.
The new owner then links the invitation to a specific QF/JQ flight they want at least the day before flight departure.
I don't understand how this process was supposed to stop sales on gumtree or Ebay as there's no way for QF to determine whether someone was given or purchased the passes.

I suspect that many people don't look in their FF account for their passes and they quietly expire (visit Complimentary invitations | Qantas to check on your invitations). Mrs C had forgotten about her two passes when she signed up for QF mastercard last year but she was able to give them to work colleagues who were flying just a week before they expired (whew!).

Called to cancel card, offered 50% annual fee waiver, declined and went through with cancellation.

I'm due to cancel mine in the next 3 months. I've noticed ANZ are no longer waiving first year annual fee. Just offering a $200.rebate.

To the uninitiated. There's an "Internet Banking" offer which gives $0 annual fee but the difference is $2500 spending in the first 3 months (not after the first eligible payment). Some on OzB forums say it works without being an ANZ customer. I took the safer route and created a saver account and accessed the offer within the website.

There is a 12 month exclusion period for offers.

Thanks, yes, I knew that, I'm on my second ANZ card after having ditched the last one in late 2015.

My missus gets a bit pissed at ANZ. She's had a home loan with them for years and has a visa that came with the loan and gets nothing but a statement out of them.

I come along and snare 125000 points out of them and I'm not a customer. But she does enjoy the points upgrades.
