Always excited around this time of the year for the latest Wendouree offerings and I always feel for those who can't get access to these wines and/or have never tried them. It's one of life's pleasures. Great wines at very reasonable prices from nice people.

I’m heading away OS soon for 6 weeks, anyone know exactly when the annual mail out is due?

I usually get about 4 dozen bottles each year and haven't ever been knocked back on what I've asked for. What are other peoples experiences?

Short of visiting them in Clare Valley, how do you get on their mailing list?

You can't visit them. They don't have a cellar door. They sell by mail order only to people on their mailing list.

Write to them directly and ask nicely. They will send you a hand written reply. It may take sometime for you to get anything. A sure way to get struck off the list is to order a dozen Shiraz for your first order.

Bugger.

Is this their postal address by any chance: PO Box 27 Clare SA 5453.

But you can use the PO Box as well.

Lita usually does the correspondence. Can help to get you on the list if you know someone already and tell them that you have enjoyed Wendouree Wines from that person and would like an opportunity to purchase some yourself.

They are very aware of new people just wanting to get hold of the shiraz to sell on the secondary market as usually you can command a 50% premium soon after the vintage is released for this item.

Actually from memory there might be a 6 bottle limit of shiraz.

I've attached a copy of the order form from 2014

I'm also going to be OS at the key time and am wondering when the form comes out...

EDIT: I just rang them - end of June. I will be away, so they recommended I just send them a letter with my order. They are offering the normal 6 wines this year and prices are up $5 a bottle. No new muscat by the sounds of it but they have some let over from last year.

For those who are on the mailing list and regularly purchase wines from Wendouree- are they as good as I hear - should people try to get their hands on some?

They are simply spectacular. But you must put them down for 5 or more years to fully appreciate them.

Outstanding value for money. $40 to $55 a bottle normally. I've no doubt subscribers would pay $100 plus for these wines. But the owners/makers have a great approach to keeping their prices realistic.

I'm currently overseas - but was back for last weekend. I didn't see the any order form in the mail that had accumulated over the past 4 weeks. But I expect it arrive very soon.

Seems I have managed to get onto the mailing list - and will buy some. (List arrived Monday) I am thinking of buying a few of each to try some to know what styles I like before next years list comes out. I cannot afford to buy 5 years worth of wine without any idea if I like it - I could do that if I were just buying the Shiraz but I have read here and elsewhere that his may not be the best way to stay on the mailing list.

The bottle prices are far less than I was expecting - the delivery charge per case of 6 is a bit extreme though.

Agree that postage is high. They come by registered post. And you wont see them for a couple of months.

If you buy only Shiraz for your first order you wont get anything and will be taken off the list.

All of their wines are great.

Just a warning - these are wines that are made to cellar. If you drink them now it's likely you'll be disappointed.

Wouldn't say no to anything to be honest, just wanting to get on the mailing list and work my way up to the shiraz.

You can get a small amount of shiraz now. Just dont order shiraz alone.

I arrived back in Australia yesterday. Order form had arrived about 10 days ago. Sending my order in today. Hoping for four dozen bottles. Hope I'm not too late.

When did you put in your order and when was your card charged?

I mailed off the order form on the 3rd July and the charge showed up today. I was not expecting it this quick, its a generic letter - maybe I was a little late getting it compared to those already on the mailing list.

The letter that came with the order form says;

"We request that you place your orders by mail on the original form provided. Please note that dispatch will take several months, and credit cards will only be charged once the wine is packed and ready for dispatch, and that we are unable to accept Diners Club Cards."

(this is one of the reasons why I am not in a position to get any extra 2012 DM - not to mention the Vintec offer)
