Weird Booking Appears QZW-QZY

HI, I have this weird booking that has appeared in my QF Bookings. Anybody no what it is? QZW-QZY. It will not let me open it.

Looks like some sort of test entry. Maybe related to the change of points expiry date next year?

This normally reflects that you have cancelled a booking, and is a reference to the credit being held. Have you cancelled a booking recently?

It may also reflect a manual adjustment if there has been a disruption in your travels somewhere.

Its a credit for a flight cancellation that requires ringing to rebook.

Was originally booked Premium Economy from HKG to SYD on 747. QF changed the aircraft to Airbus and hence had to be with the cattle.....they owe me a credit. Is that it?

It also occurs when you cancel an award booking. It can stay there for months, even after the dates attributed to it have past.

I booked 3 Australian domestic flights last Thursday on a voucher with a large portion of the voucher still unused. My wife made the same bookings on her voucher of the same value. She automatically received the standard email with the new voucher number and the amount still to use. I didn't receive mine so contacted Qantas Facebook on messages. I was asked to give my voucher number and name. After 24 hours and asking what was the result, I was told an email was sent to me not long before.
It read
Confirmation and E-Ticket Flight Itinerary for <number removed> from QZW to QZY on 09Mar20 for me and a new booking reference number.
It also contained a PDF for a flight QF 9097.
I googled the Flight QF9097 and this is where I found this forum. Someone in 2010 had a post on here with a similar question.
The thing is these references for the E-Ticket refer to a cancellation of a booking made according to the previous forum post. I did not make any further flight bookings other than than the 3 domestic flights.
Has someone attempted to use my Qantas voucher?

QF9092 and QWY-QZY is a cancelled booking that has been turned into a voucher (or credit).
Needs a flight number and destination for it to 'credit'.

When I first read your post and saw QWY-QZY I thought you were trying to give away unused portions of a voucher (true cash value).

After a second read I understand your post. In the first instance call QF and ask them to explain the booking reference and destinations. If that does not work out send me a PM.

My query was I did not book and cancel any flights yet it now appears that I had.
Has someone else booked and cancelled? What does that mean?
My voucher number and name has been compromised?
All might be sweet now as my voucher credit is in tact.
But was it used by someone? For whatever reason?

Yep it's a method of re-issue of a cancelled ticket but I did not cancel a ticket to receive this method of voucher credit. My wife did the same bookings and received the standard voucher re-issue email instantly with the balance amount which I would have expected to receive the same way. My query is did someone else attempt to use my voucher?

No, someone else using your vouchers doesn't create a new booking reference.

This is more of a funny and harmless one. I redeemed a GV via the call centre and the draft itinerary send by the agent for my review had this phantom segment at the end. This one takes the mystery flights to another level...

The date is 361 days after I purchased the GV. The agent cleaned it up before finalising the booking but it was a funny extra topic to talk about while she was typing away.

That’s actually quite common for cancelled flights or credits. CheckMyTrip would show similar info.

Had a chat re this with a QF supervisor - he was very surprised to hear about this *phantom* booking. He acknowledged that the booking system sometimes will add a *ghost* route to the itinerary, but never something that says *fictitious point*

These are pseudo flights (which are different to ghost segments) and are set up as flights in the QF system that never actually fly. They are used to hold gift voucher/flight credit funds and are removed prior to ticketing.
