Wondering if anybody has waitlisted on a SQ award seat ? any experience on how often it clears ? I am tempted just to try it since i have some time to see if it actually works.
Some bargains if you can use the 50% miles discount at the moment on SQ

Have waitlisted on numerous occassions, in both Y & J cabins and except at really busy times of the year have had a good success rate, although being PPS may help. My most recent one was successful but too late - return to SIN- Zurich this month on flights with 50% discount. Been waitlisted on one sector for a while, and came through this week for travel in about 2 weeks time. Unfortunately too late as now have other plans...

Whats the deal with also booking another award ? can you book and waitlist at the same time ? and i guess you get slugged 5000 points to cancel the other flight ?

Only pleb status on SQ :( actually not :( at all, i simply choose and prefer oneworld due to easier to make/retain status which i would find a lot more difficult on *A generally but also considering it with a few MR's to do it. But i do fly SQ (Living in SIN i think thats almost un-avoidable) and i do like there award availability generally.

With waitlisting...if you have no status...if someone with status waitlists after you they will go in front of you.

So without status..waitlisting is a high chance of not being succesful. So if like me you need to fix your leave well in adavance it probably is not that useful.

But with the current lack of paying customers you may be lucky.

I did assume this.. but i think i will take the safe option and waitlist on the saver seat and grab the standard seat and just loose 5000 points and cancel if i get the saver... 22500 points vs 40000 points ... then again hardly worth it and i need to transfer points for both to book. hmmmm.

I was told you can book 2 flights, one confirmed and one waitlisted, at the same time on the one award. I did this recently for SYD-SIN-BKK return and put one of the flights on waitlist but as it did not ticket the itinerary due to the waitlist I called SQ and got rid of the wailist and ticketed the award. I did not want to give fuel surcharges and exchange rates a chance to spoil the award.

I notice that the OP Evan is largely in Singapore.

I am not PPS but have a *A gold card from SQ and I have found that if award or paid waitlists are not moving the best thing is to take me and my card to Paragon and park myself in front of an SQ person to sort it out. The supervisors there have the capacity to exercise common sense and override the system.

That could be an option, but little status with SQ. Anyway the booking is made and waitlisted so i will probably look for a ticket i can hold until 23rd June sine it will either clear or be rejected by then so the web site says.
