I am trying to book a return trip MEL to BKI with a stopover in SIN on the way for two passengers in J. When I called originally I hadn't transferred the points to my account so I couldn't waitlist anything. I was able to get a flight on the way there but on the way back there were no seats to MEL so I booked two to Sydney. They are holding it for me while I transfer the points.
Now the points have arrived in the account and I am able to waitlist. For some reason, it would not let me waitlist both ways so I waitlisted BKI -SIN-MEL one way for my return date. I know that I need to book a return flight in order to qualify for the stopover but I was thinking that if the waitlist clears I can just change the booking to that flight.
Is this going to work? Is there another way I should have done it? My MEL-SIN option wasn't ideal either as it gets in at midnight but I took what I could get.
