Hello all,

I have been reading a few threads and just want to clarify a few points, with your assistance.

We are planning a small trip on QF to FNQ in the middle of this year. I am planning to buy return tix with QF at about $400 per pax for myself, wife and daughter, so about $1,200 all up. (I have enough points for redemptions, but don't see the 108k points + $320 in taxes as an effective use of points when fares are available for purchase at this price).

I have read here (thanks) that buying QF gift vouchers (ensuring that the voucher value per head is lower than the base airfare component ~ so $50 or $100 vouchers for this trip) is a good way to avoid the CC fees, so am planning to do that.

So, to clarify, I should:

1). Buy a $50 or $100 voucher for each pax in the one transaction (we plan to travel together).

2). Take that voucher and redeem on the QF site for the same airfares we are currently looking at (as long as still available).

3). Pay the balance by CC, avoiding the onerous CC fee per pax.

Is that correct?

Can someone also please confirm, based on your experience, that the same range of airfares (ie., my circa $400 fare) will be available when booking with a voucher (as long as the voucher value does not exceed the base airfare)?

Have I got the above right?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

tb

Basically you have it correct. Get a voucher for 3 pax at $50 for $150.

As insurance you should check the fare bucket on you prior test dummy bookings to ensure there is plenty of availability.

As serfty says check availability first but I have never had an issue seeing and booking the cheap airfares when using a voucher.
