Virgin vs AirAsiaX

Hi Guys,

I'm flying to Bali in June and have 2 options.
1. Fly business class using Velicity Points or
2. Buy really cheap business class AirAsia Tickets.

Virgin is on a Boeing 737-800 Vs AirAsiaX A330 (flat seat).

My question is:
Which airline will give me the best service and flight enjoyment?
Who will have newer planes?
Cost is not a concern.

AirAsia's A320s do not have the premuim cabin, only their A332s do.

Your original post said A320. Certainly a lie flat seat is better than VA's recliners

Yes my mistake. A330 is the plane.

What about service in the plane and quality of entertainment/ food?

Also I understand that air Asia has no lounge in Melb?

Food on a ax is economy junk and ife is byo, no lounge access

service food and ife on VA will be better

depends if you need flat bed for this short sector or not

Off topics but personally I would avoid air Asia for their safety record and operational standards generally

Upgraded to Business on AX at the airport last year on return leg back to MEL from Klia2 the angled flatbed with pillow/blanket was well worth the $120 upgrade for an overnight flight compared to VA's offering IMHO. But as mentioned no IFE, and drink/food just normal economy offerings but as asleep most of the flight was no big deal. Accessed lounges using ANZ Black Card at DPS and Klia2.

Considering that the first Air Asia fatal accident was only this year, the stats may not agree with you regarding their safety record.

Plenty of information out there around incidents that have occurred in Asia and also with incidents logged with Australian regulators over their practices operating into OOL. I'm not comfortable with their minimally qualified indentured junior pilots on the 330 either

Hi ChipChip, I didn't think there were any lounges at KLIA2, let alone one for ANZ Black Rewards? There is none at all for Malaysia on the current ANZ Black Rewards list of airports.

Surprisingly the new Klia2 airport is great! And is well looked after by Plaza Premium Lounges, I used ANZ Black to access Plaza Premium Lounge Level 2, Gateway@klia2, which was listed on ANZ site, but looks like it has been removed.
