I called and was told to login to redeem the voucher but could not find the link to redeem this. Will call again..

Update: have to go to this site to redeem the voucher: Virgin Credit Cards | Virgin Money
Interesting way to handle the gift vouchers. I have requested the gift voucher and mentions have to wait 5 business days for the email to be sent or follow up call if not eligible.

All about making it an effort for people to get it, save them money.

Not sure why anyone would want to pay $129 to get a $129 voucher. And if you have a partner with a card you'll be pay $169 to get a $129 voucher. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense in order to then get a pitiful points per $1 value and poor service. Then if you fail to use your voucher.......

There are plenty of cards with 1 to 1 points that will also get an annual 15% bonus for transferring your points to Velocity.

Well my wife's annual fee anniversary was around the 2Oth of March. Called up to cancel and was offered a fee waiver. So now it is $129 for free!

If I had been offered a fee waiver I would have kept it too. In that case it definitely tips the value argument in favour of hanging on to it.

Evidently, $4000 a month spend isn't good enough.

I received my voucher via email today, the day after I requested it. That was a nice surprise.

Gift voucher also received today via email after requesting yesterday.

I had an interesting experience. I cancelled my account in December after the latest round of enhancements and fees. As previously posted they were unwilling to waive fees whilst at the same time telling me what a good customer I was.

i just logged into my cancelled account to download some soft copies of some previous statements, whilst I could still access the history, and discovered that in February, so two months after cancelling my account, I was sent an email saying we now want to waive your fees so please call for us to reinstate your account. No attempt to phone me just a random email to a cancelled account that presumably I would never log into again. Bizarre.

Anyway, I did happen to log in today and saw it so I called and said if you've waived the fees I'm happy to reinstate the account for another 12 months, only to be told it's now past the 3 month cutoff so I need to reapply for a new account that will be subject to the current applicable fees. Ok, no thank you, your loss, shame you didn't offer a waiver in the first instance.

Good you stuck to your guns, the more that do the better it is.

I just got my $129 voucher. It comes with a unique voucher number that has 6 months validity. So I guess I'll cancel my card and continue churning other cards.

Mine was a normal gift voucher valid until October 2017.

The trick is how to spend as close as possible to $129 without going over otherwise the dreaded $8 credit card surcharge is levied.

So the funniest thing just happened.

I got my voucher, called up to cancel the card, where the anniversary date is October. They said what about if we credit your account with 129 bucks? You can still cancel before October if you want...

So essentially I got two $129 vouchers. I sure will feel like a c*nt when I call up next month to cancel. heh heh heh

I don't believe that is true. Think they surcharge even if $1 over which is why I let any vouchers under $8 in value expire.

When booking reward flights using points, the co-pay must be at least $50 before CC fee is applied. I would have thought this would apply for all co-pay situations?

That's what I thought until I tried using a gift voucher with a small residual.

No way to avoid the $7.70 credit card surcharge as debit card or credit card are the only valid options after using gift voucher to pay part if the balance.

They must have lost a lot more customers than they thought they would with the changes!
