Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

As posted in another thread, noted a few new salads in the SYD VA lounge this week - a potato salad with thinly sliced potatoes, and a prawn and celery -- both heavy mayo salads however.
Also the soups seem to have changed recently to ones with a bit more texture.

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

Have you seen Virgin Lounge Food Liam (Couldn't be bothered looking through all the pages to see if you'd posted). VFF mentioned it's changing soon, starting in BNE with a 'trial'. Was meant to be this month but it's been delayed.

Change is, apparently, coming :)

the hot dogs were the main attraction for dinner... not impressed.

It has been said in the past that the lounge offerings are not meant to be a meal........rather a light snack to help pass the time.

Then VA need to change the wording on the website... "Stay a little longer and enjoy our Luke Mangan designed breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets – the menu changes monthly, and rotates throughout our lounges. Or relax and unwind with your choice of boutique premium wines and refreshing ales, available from 11.00am daily."

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

There have been many threads and posts discussing the boring repetitive food offerings in the Virgin lounges.

The best Virgin can do is a "trial" in July after they failed at getting the food trial up and running as originally promised in May.

I wouldn't be holding your breath for anything to happen this year. If it takes Virgin months to trial something, they will then wait for feedback, crunch the number, think about it more and next thing it will be 2014.

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

I agree - the food seems unchanged in 2 years. I sent this as feedback in the recent survey.....

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

Okay, so if we all agree that the menu is somewhat dated, what sort or replacement meals would work? What wouldn't work?

I think it's more about rotating the offering. Sure, have a selection of half a dozen things, just don't do the same one for months on end. Much like in flight meals.

I'm totally over the "salad bar" and a few different hot options would be better.

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

What about

Breakfast, morning tea & snack.
- Bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, sautéed mushrooms, beans, savoury muffins.
- Fruit, yoghurt & muesli cups,
- Bagels and assorted breads and pastries, donut's, croissants, baguettes & condiments (morning and afternoon)

Lunch & Dinner
- Mini Pizza's (substantial item offered in peak hours)
- Assorted finger fried food such as chips, fish cakes, wedges, nuggets, fish bites, spring rolls...
- Nacho's.
- Chicken wings & rice, noodles..
- Sushi.
- Antipasto & dip selection.
- Specialty salads, caesar salad, nicoise, quinoa....
- Hot pasta or risotto dish.
- Mini slider's & assorted burgers.

Of course it would all have to be branded under Luke Mangan and be on a rotating basis.

Getting my BPs reprinted in at NTL yesterday for MEL via BNE, the young lady said I had time for "the great lounge experience" in BNE. I said "yeah, if you like hot dogs". Then she put her hands over her face for a moment trying not to laugh. Gold.

Classic - loving it! You should have said the 'Luke Mangan' hot dogs ;)

- Nacho's.

FYI, I read this as "Nando's" and nearly wet my pants in excitement.

(I know it's hardly worth adding my opinion here, because I'm in agreement with the crowd - but as someone who's been flying VA MEL-SYD-MEL weekly for 9 months now, I am *SO DAMN SICK* of hot dogs. Like the rest of you, I don't expect Luke Mangan to pop out the back room and bring me a souffle upon request, and I know that for a comparatively low-priced airline like VA, you can't expect miracles. But the same food EVERY SINGLE DAY is pretty poor. Quite honestly, it's the one thing I really can't stand about being such a VA loyalist. Everything else about being Plat is wonderful - flyahead bonus is honestly the single greatest FF benefit ever, for me, and being able to nab row 3 at booking is fantastic. But DAMN, those BLOODY hot dogs...)

So the menu looks surprisingly similar here in MEL this evening...

Looks like no one is eating them either!

Well I guess if no-one eats the food then it does save VA $$..

As for nachos they have been in the MEL and CBR lounges before! I didn't mind them actually...

Re: Lounge F&B Feedback

Nando's would be nice, expect the fares to head further north.

 their prices are certainly refelcting a full service airline... yet LCC is still tangled in their business developments.
low-priced airline like VA
