Virgin Happy Hour [Thursdays]

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Seems like all domestic happy hour flights are for 2016?

Yep same as last weeks. I haven't made any plans for next year but I do need to book a flight to Melbourne for next month. I'm hoping some sort of sale happens.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Happy hour for flights > 9 months from now?

That's what sales are for not Happy Hours.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Yet again, I've had a very un-happy hour reading through today's "specials".

The international fares are pretty good though. Would love to see some J fares show up during happy hour sometime.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I'm also trying to find a few good mileage runs as well as OOL weekends..happy hour is def not what it used to be.....I'm now looking at anz and their domestic $29 sales....now that''s desperate. :(

"I'm now looking at anz and their domestic $29 sales."

Just need to make sure that you will earn SC on the fare bucket you are booked into, I've read that Air NZ Domestic fares are a hit n run :)

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

The majority of today's fares on happy hour have travel dates of ~06May15 to Nov15~.

YMMV.

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Tempted by SYD/BNE-LAX in W for $2650, for most of the year!
Wanting to go for a conference in August...

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

No SYD-BNE? Is this one of the routes that has had capacity cuts?

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

I tend to completely forget about the Happy Hour sales as, although I still receive the emails, nowadays they don't arrive until well after the sale finishes. Over the past couple of weeks, the email didn't arrive until after 11pm (Perth time) and yesterday's one landed in my Inbox at 3.22am today!

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

^This has happened to me also in the last few weeks, the e-mail for yesterday's happy hour didn't turn up until 1am, well past the end of the sale. Wonder what's up with their e-mail system?

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

BNE/SYD/MEL/OOL > * To Selected New Zealand Destination Fares in J are on Happy Hour today starting at $549 one way!

Also, BNE/SYD > LAX in Premium Economy Return $2500, Valid for fare dates 13th July to 15th September & 10th October to10th December

Re: Happy hours not so cheery anymore

Some half decent fares for a change. SYD-BNE $89 from end July to beginning September.

That's a great deal! Although it's very frustrating that they won't combine well with other origins or destinations. eg: MEL-LAX it adds another $660 on top, as it adds the domestic sectors as flexible rather than saver (saver prices $300). Same for other onward destinations, eg: MSP it adds $1300 for flights that booked separately are $770. Frustrating as VA still don't do through check in I believe... Not often I just want to fly SYD-LAX :(

Website seems to be having a hard time also.

.

VA have offered through check in for a while on all partners ... especially VX and DL ( but like all US carriers you need to collect bags when clearing customs)

But when you go into the booking process there is a little note: "Seating will be in Economy" Now why would I buy a Business Class fare that seats in Economy????

I'm talking about 2 separate VA PNRs, eg: a domestic (MEL-SYD) connecting to an international (SYD-LAX). You can't check in at MEL and get the bag tagged through to LAX, nor receive BP's for both legs.
