Friend flying Mel to sydney on DJ on the weekend, I'm not flying, would I be able to guest her and me in?

Oh the point was they are supposed to send me two guest passes with the welcome pack-would that help?
I'm genuinely interested in checking it out as my next US trip may be with the "dark side"!

As a silver, you will probably have 2 guest passes electronically attached to your Velocity account. Whether they can be used in the cirumstance described, I'm not sure!

They don't send them - they are electronic passes. You should be able to see them in your Velocity Account.

OK. If it ends up too complicated we have a DJ return trip over Xmas and will use them then. Although OOL won't be operative by then. Anyway will be gold end of next year if all the plans come to fruition.

I’m not sure if the guest passes can be used "any time"… because if you’re not flying it’s basically any time access, isn’t it?

OK. If it ends up too complicated we have a DJ return trip over Xmas and will use them then. Although OOL won't be operative by then. Anyway will be gold end of next year if all the plans come to fruition.

Just be aware the two passes received when you hit silver expire in 3 months - depending on when you hit silver, when they are allocated and when you are flying, they might have expired!

The passes with silver are fairly easy to redeem, they just swipe your card at the Lounge and allow entry, providing you are flying. For your friends pick-up, you could try (as you're there anyway) but I doubt they'll accept it as you require membership/passes + a forward boarding pass for that day. Any time access is a Gold/Platinum benefit only.

If you are hopeful of achieving gold by numerous flights, I personally found the discounted Lounge membership offered to silver members was well worth it and that was when I mainly used BNE for breakfast (no grog) and no guesting. If you intend to attain gold via fewer but higher SC earners, it may not be worth it.

I've been assured that the Lounge angels will know I'm allowed to take an extra guest in with my free pass, but I am dubious.
