Many pseudo govt bills like water and electricity were argued by virgin money and also “pending” transactions that were purchased before the statement date but missed the actual monthly statement can cause issues if you are right on the $1500 spend.

My transactions went through a week after I got my card. Definitely not close to cut off

Got a reply from Citi. Have to wait 60 days from date of transaction...

I was referring to purchases made a few days before the close date on your statement but dont get processed until after the statement close date and hence appear on the next months statement. Made me miss the spend by $100 and had to argue with them to get the bonus points for that month

So you think 'month' is the statement period? When I looked at the terms of the offer that's not what I read.

You got written confirmation that it is the statement period?

No written confirmation just what actually happened. After complaining they gave me the points so not a big issue

"for every month" is comparatively vague. However, the statement period is from the date of approval so should line up.

Not for me.

My first statement cam within 9 days of approval and 3 days of receiving the card.

Can someone please advise if paying a tradies bill via paypal qualifies as a eligible spend towards the $1500 to get the bonus points

Only the credit card provider can 'advise' this.

My educated guess and experience suggests that the answer will be yes.

I have used Easy Bill Pay to generate the (just over) $1500 spend - 992 points + the first bonus of 25000 points have posted to Velocity today. A 0.8% premium a small price to pay - they will then divert funds as required; back into your card (or anywhere else) via Bpay, "government spend", bank transfers....

What about health insurance payments - could this be considered a semi-government transaction????
Am I safe making a $1500 payment (to health insurance) to count towards the minimum spend?

Can't guarantee from my own experience with this card, but I know it has worded for me with other cards that have government exclusions. I can't see how health insurance could be connected to a government spend.

I'm liking this card for the points vs spend/annual fee but a bit worried that people don't seem to be getting the bonus points each month after the qualifying spend. Has anyone on here received the 25,000 points each month?

I did with the high flyer last year, Mrs tizey did with the flyer last year, and I'm one successful month into a flyer card currently.

Whenever Citibank are involved, I make it my business to ensure I more than meet the minimum spend each month - the slight loss in points by spending 3k on this card a month vs the dragon is worth ensuring that the 25k hit each month.

I also 'try' small amounts on prepaying various bills in the first month to ensure they are qualifying spend so if I need to on later months, I can dump a few months onto electricity/gas/health insurance/telco to give me a boost.

Just about to take my 5th go at this card in 2.5 years, it’s a great opportunity. My bonus points have always landed at the end of the month. I’m wary of any type of govt spend, and always ensure I’ve got a few days clear at the end of the month as charges can take a couple of days to land.
Also be careful- the first month is short as it starts from approval, up to a week before the card arrives!
