Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

I heard along the grapevine that the latest 737s coming are -700s from Southwest. Not sure if anyone can verify that.

I guess 700s would help close the gap in many smaller markets, not sure what happened to the Alliance E190 talk however appears nothing going to move there.

The 700’s are hardly worth it to tackle narrow routes seriously.

I assume intra QLD and Canberra routes. Gives them some flexibility around some quieter routes I guess. The numbers must stack up though, plenty of -800s they could go for instead.

What happened with Alliance E190? Clearly they see they can do it in-house more profitably with a -700.

UA, I believe are also trying to grab some 73Gs from Southwest as well.

Saying that, the 73Gs are the niche of the 737 fleet (similar to how the A319s are the niche of the A320 family (both ceo and neo)).

A319s are being scrapped for parts, some not even 10 years old, I’d imagine -700s would be crazy cheap to lease.

-700 is probably a good fit for this market.

Was not aware that Southwest had that many -700s. 461 is crazy.

I don't think they're coming from WN.

IWY now in BNE (ex-9V-MGQ) now off to TSV.

Just 2 of the ex-SilkAir/SQ stock left for delivery from the first batch.

So does all the Silkair machines comes with the new seating?

Or are they just silk air?

Flew on IWX not long ago. Business class seats were the same recliners found on the existing fleet, but no divider. Economy appeared to be seats from the Tiger 737’s with all grey headrests.

So maybe just the original 2 (IWQ & IJU) posted upthread have new style seating.
Will try to keep track where they are have few upcoming flights.

Any AFF's experienced these new VA seat layout?

They should have just kept the Silkair seats damn that’s a step backwards
Bur aren't the seats the silkAir seats? The thin stiffer looking yet apparently more comfortable seats?
Or did VA change ALL seats to their own design? (as pictured upthread)
