Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

VA posted a TikTok this morning of their new 737 MAX seats installed on, I presume VH-IJQ (as IWQ is in TSV).

Edit: This is IJQ, IWQ has already had the new seats installed.

So much for them reusing seats. They look a bit like the silk air ones but have fake leather on them instead.

Also looks like they've got USB ports and device holders which is a positive.

Are they the Silkair seats?

Even Jetstar is putting usb into the NEO so really is just the expected these days.

Wait is this the new max sitting or the second hand planes they are refitting?

I didn't realise the second hand planes were Max's.... gulp!

Settle down.. They're the ex-MI/SQ 738s.

They look like they're either the ex-MI economy seats reupholstered, which is probably unlikely (They could probably just reupholster them without having to remove the MI seats) or possibly an off-the-shelf slimline economy seat design with USBs typically found on the LCCs.

New seats in the ex-MI planes.

New seats out of the box (literally, they show the unboxing in the video).

Yep. The reference to Max is somewhat spurious.

They are just new super slimline seats with USB ports and a tablet holder.

Got it - I thought the MAX part was wrong!

The eco seats look very very thin, hopefully they aren't rock hard like the EasyJet slimlines.

Where are people seeing the new J seats?

Good to get a complete refresh. Time to move in from Virgin 1.0.

I do find the current leather seats a tad hard so these look softer.

Divider?

New Business Class seats looks like the MiQ Miq

I have flown on this with American Airlines, they certainly squeezed the pitch when they installed them on their planes, hopefully given the increased recline statement and footrest on Virgins, the same won't happen on VA's B737s. American also had a low hanging centre consol, which made it impossible to store anything under the centre part of the seat in front, whereas in VA's picture the centre consol seems to level out with the bottom of the seat base, so a better design choice there too!

(New seat - shouldn't this have its own thread?!?!)

Yeah I noticed it looks gone. Perhaps not installed or design finalised yet?

Wouldn't care if it went. Would actually be better to store bag beneath seat in front in row 3.

Agree, the purple plastic thing looked really cheap too. I think they are working purple slowly out of their new look - its less evident in the lounges too...
