She makes it sound like that's all they're getting.
And their statutory entitlements.. i.e unpaid leave, super payments.. and that's about it ? Unless their EBA had a provision for anything extra by way of redundancy in the circumstances of bankruptcy, sale or restructuring..

Wow.... What a time to be a VA employee, a signed photo by Richard Branson LOL

You'd be amazed at the level of emotional connection some VA employees feel to the Virgin brand. I know of a few who would appreciate this gesture.

I believe from reports they are getting all of their entitlements paid out? So it's not a total slap in the face.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The absence of ATRs from the fleet raises questions about the future of routes suited to ATR sized aircraft - Albury, Port Macquarie, Tamworth etc. Will they be handed over to Alliance or dropped?

Also, what will happen to Canberra? Does VA intend maintaining a similar frequency on SYD/CBR run with 737s? On that route, lousy frequency = no business

Summary: does not bode well for flights to true "regional centres"

They still have charter agreements with Alliance, and those airports have security screening, so they could be operated by Alliance if they have capacity.

No mention of short haul Int’l which their fleet of 737s would handle. I assume it’s planned to recommence as soon as conditions allow.

So they say credits and points will be honored, and also they'll be code sharing with international partners.

So it follows when international routes re-open we'll be able to use credits or FF points to book them?

I see the VA website has today been updated to include cancellation of upcoming Los Angeles flights, of which I have one booked for next month (booked last year).

The VA website implies they will automatically provide a credit which has all sorts of conditions such as "Bookings using your credit will be subject to seat availability within the fare class reserved for Future Flight credits on your selected flight and will be subject to its own terms and conditions."

Any idea how to get a genuine refund?

Extract from an email update from Velocity this afternoon:
When international travel restrictions ease, you’ll still be able to book redemption flights with global airline partners.

Paul Scurrah on 3AW with Tom Elliot this arvo, not sure of exact time, but between 3pm to 6pm.

I han't believed fare class has anything to do with "conditional credits" - thinking a strait $ value based on the original that may be able to be applied to a future booking.

I had not seen anything regarding fare class before.

Good luck with that! You can reject the conditional credit and become an unsecured creditor.

They better drastically improve their access to their 'partners' because Velocity had barely any premium cabin international avails under the old VA1 guard...

This has to be a joke
No joke. But if they give it to me, I’ll send it back with my compliments.

Yep that was a condition of sale from Deloitte, that our entitlements are paid out in full if made redundant.

Once the Pacific regions open up again that is the plan, to go into those ports using the 737.

NZ is mentioned in the VFF email a relo got.
DPS and NAN too.
Guess those 3 are the int short hauls they will do when int travels are open again.
